i've never seen it be brown before now, has it ever been brown before?

It's ivy not moss and it's freezing in chicago. Ivy doesn't like the cold. Yes it's been brown before usually in the colder months.

It's not moss ... it is Ivy ... and it is brown because Wrigley Field is in Chicago. They just got through winter ... it takes several weeks before it becomes green again after being dormant for the winter.

Due to the cold weather and frosty conditions. Lack of sunlight as well.
P.S. It is Ivy my dear and not moss, it has been brown off and on since Wrigley was constructed.

The ivy (not moss) will turn green once the weather warms up in Chicago.

It's ivy, and it's cause it hasnt gotten over 70 in Chicago yet. Once it starts to warm up, the ivy will be nice and green.

Because it is the type of ivy that needs the warmth and rain of spring and summer to flourish and turn green .
