If everyone wants world peace, then why does the world just keep getting worse?

everybody at the top wants world domination.
how can we achieve world peace unanimously,
if they from the top wouldnt want to stoop down.

In front of one another they want world peace. Once the back is turned, they are looking at means to line their coffers with more money. Human beings are selfish right to the bone. They will be generous when their wants has been replenished. Since this is not possible at all time, it becomes a routine going against peace for wealth attainment, and routinely for peace when the objective has been fulfilled. Wars and unpleasantness will bring wealth for some countries, --- the reason for disowning peace for the world

Also, many are already living peaceful lives. For many of us, only what affects us personally, will we seek to change.

Either that, or it could be false peceptions on what we think will create world peace, which haven't been working by far.

What are you basing your decision that the world is getting worse?

Maybe its better then it ever has been, especially here in the United States. WWII was not that long ago, millions died, that's not happening today. WWI before that had people running at machine guns on a regular basis. Not that long ago only whites had rights in the US, go back a bit farther and women was the handmaids of men without basic rights (Voting, etc).

Hell we have running water, and even running hot water which has to be the best invention of all! That didn't exist that long ago and more then 100 years ago it was a luxury, like flushing toilets.

Lots of places are much worse off then the United States and bigorty, hate, ignorance and poverty still effect alot of people here and there. But I don't think its fair to say that things are getting worse. A better question is what are you going to do to help promote civilization here as well as around the globe?

Because the western world, which values life, wants peace. Other parts of the world seek power and bloodshed.

There is such a thing as evil in this world, and the only thing you can do is defeat it because it will never go away.

we are a species of animals who always strive for more. We strive to become more powerful, and we strive to oust our opposition. This will to power is something that defines humans. I am not saying that man is inherently evil, because he isn't, because man has the ability to change his mind. It is this ability that allows us to adapt to our environment as to interact efficiently with our fellow members of society. Thus, we have the ability to change from being selfish, to helping others, as each mode has its benefits, each its own disadvantages.

Man doesn't want peace, he wants whatever mode of hostility can satisfy his own needs the best. if war allows man to become successful, then wars shall break out, but if peace is favorable, then peace shall rein.

To answer your question, why do we start wars if we know it only leads us to more pain in the end? We do it for the short run, because by the time the consequences catch up on us, we are already reaping the benefits from the wars and the conflicts; we are already becoming happy. Thus, if we suddenly become peaceful, then those people who profit from the wars will be unprofitable, and they will always lobby to have more wars, in order to support themselves.

first of all, the world isn't getting worse. and second. people all want peace but sum-times they don't know if it is something worth dieing for. if you think about it if your world was just full of happy rainbows and every one was at peace i would get kind of boring don't yah think. we would have no problems to solve and no bullies to beat us up. it would be great at first but after a while you would get bored. we have to realize that with out the bad things how would we value all the good things that happen to us threw out our lives. just be optamistic and value all you experiances, good and bad. as for world peace. like every thing it starts at one place... home.

Power.Why do you think world peace will never be .Absolute power is the corrupting force behind everything .If you have power no one can hurt you .You are in charge you make the rules you decide who lives or dies.Can you visualize someone giving up all that power to make people happy.They would have to be crazy to do that !

Looking at "the big picture"...better.....
I believe, the problems we have today have always existed, but with the communications technology available, we are more informed of things going on... around the globe... War is not new, climate change is not new (ice age?), poverty, etc......

However, sadly.. I believe : "World peace, can not be achieved..... one person, cannot do it by himself.....

Think positively, like "Star Trek"... then we'll just have wars with other planets, but, whatever.... at least we'll all get along........ :s
I think, that's the only way we could have peace within all the earthlings, if we had someone else to battle!

not everyone wants world peace for everyone, just thei own race or religion ,al others are subhumans only good for exploiting for profit or used as disposable people to wage wars.

some people are not interested in world peace and only crave power and profit.
