We celebrities are constantly the subject of rumours and gossip, no matter how untrue or unbelievable they are. These rumours are sometimes hurtful and damaging not only to our reputation, but also to our feelings. How can we nip them in the bud?

3 reasons why you should not stop rumours from spreading:-

1. Rumours = bad publicity but is free publicity, why not?
2. Rumours gives you the opportunity to challenge yourself to work harder to prove your worth in the industry
3. Rumours gives you the opportunity to observe who is the real enemy and who is the real friend around you

The more you work towards defending there is no such rumour, the more people will believe the rumour. So just let it be and be cool. Being emotional solves no problem. If people around you loves you, they will automatically know what to do. Let them defend you rather than you do it yourself. Is always better that way.

* you really Ambia Chia there? You're great! I like your hardworking attitude to be successful! ^_^

I am not sure how you can nip it in the bud. Common people like myself sometimes feel that its cool to know something that others do not, i.e gossip and rumours.

"Did you know that so and so was seen kissing so and so at the airport the other day?"

Such a statement may not be true but it feels good to know something that most of the population has yet to know.

If you come out saying that its not true, we would probably think that you are lying and if you laid low, we would probably think that you were avoiding the media because its true. Its a rock and a hard place.

I wonder what other celebrities think of this issue. Should you guys just get use to it?

I mean rumours and gossip hurts not only celebrities but common folk like us too. There's not much we can do so I guess there's not much you can do.

Good luck.

Firstly, why does one become a celebrity ? Because someone :
Sings well
Is a comedian
Is a music composer
Writes well
Good scientist.......etc..etc..etc...

Most importantly...someone we common people can look up to , respect and be proud of. Savvy !!!! A role model for all.
You will have so much attention and in Malaysia it can be really cool!

But...if you think you are hollywood / bollywood / malaysiaboleh! wood ... and the like ....and you want to snort cocaine, smoke ganja , have multiple sex partners , steal somes wife or husband , drink and drive, blow up people....then you must be aware that the Malaysian papparazi can very easily make your life quite uncomfortable too!
Politicians have it better because of press control...you know lah !!!!

However , you cannot ever prevent gossip. But if your conscience is clear then you really have nothing to worry about. You used the words "rumours and gossip, untrue or unbelievable "!! There is so much ambiguity there .
There is really no smoke without a fire . The smallest of sparks can be the right spark to start of a beautiful bonfire.
Bottom line is WE make YOU a celebrity because we like what you do.
Celebrities also need their space and personal lives. So, keep it very private and all's well. Tough isn't it ?.
Thats the price you pay for being a celebrity.

That is 1 of the issue need to be handle by most celebrities. There is not turning away from this kind of issue. As a celebrities, no matter how silent you are, or even how untrue about the rumor, it will still come to you; to create a story around you to attract attention from the public. The public wants to know you, if you have nothing for them, they create it for you. Do not let this rumours bothers you. As you mention, it is rumours and is untrue. It is really not worth it if everything goes down with it. I don't believe there is a best way to resolve this because if there is, there will be no worries for all celebrities. Just cool your head before making any decision and don't let this rumours to spoil your days, is really not worth it!!!!

i think whether the rumour is true or not, the end of the day it sells stories. most of the time rumours are started by the tabloid that printed it in the first place to secure good sales for their print.

as we all know, celebs are a public figure and tend to influence the behaviour of their audience/fans. and more often than not, the rumour ends up being a heated topic of discussion because of this very fact. good or bad, the behavious of a public figure will always be discussed.

we can't help the rumours from spreading. what really matters is that you believe in yourself and be strong. if you know you are right, then others will eventually see it too.

Yeah it was. My hubby cheated on me so many times before we got married. I didn't find out until after of course, but I wanted to get my pay back bc of what he had put me through. I mean I did have some idea that he was, but he had beat me so much mentally that I trusted him more than my gut instinct. Anyways, I never did get him back bc I did not want to be that person that I hated for so long. You know your husband and things will become boring or the same, but no matter what you know he loves you and is NOT going anywhere. You can change boring and kink it up. Are you willing to put your marriage at risk for someone that you got close with on drunken night? Also, have you thought about if you hubby finds out will the other guy still stick around when your hubby leaves you? Granted the affair will seem fun at first, but when others get hurt...would it have been worth it? Also, it sounds like you have a good neighborhood and friends. How many friends will you have left when the secret comes out. It ALWAYS comes out. It's just a matter of time. Good luck. I hope you make the right decision.

Rumours are fascinating cuz Malaysians love gossiping, don't we? The rumours circle all around and yeah, sometimes it hurts. While it might be untrue and hurtful, it is what made you famous.
You can't really stop rumours. You can only ignore them. (Buat bodoh je.)
Take Dato' Siti Nurhaliza for example. Before she got married, there's a bunch of rumours saying that she got married secretly etc. And when she DOES get married, there's these rumours that she's pregnant, and she's getting divorced, things like that.
The public never rests, Amber. People will never feel good about your achievements.
Don't worry about the rumours. Ignore them and stick to you goal. Best of Luck! :)

I'm sorry dear, I'm afraid I don't understand your question. Rumors are fascinating - so you like them - but then you want them to stop when you don't like them anymore.

I don't mean to be rude but, hey! are you new to the entertainment business or just too naive? You should know by now - sure those managing you must have told you - that gossip is a by-product of fame.

Besides, you asking this question to the very people that create demand for those rumors: your fan base. And look at the answers you getting! I mean, they really take it seriously trying to tell you that you shouldn't be bothered etc. etc. :)) So sweet...you just have to love all this!

Your privacy is what the industry wants in exchange for a life that, if you don't like you can easily change. Plain and simple.
Else, enjoy the ride and start worry the day they stop gossiping about you.

But you're clever enough to have figure that out by yourself, without our help. The very fact that you use this media the way you do tells me that you are not that naive.

So, was it a trick question? ;)

cheers

All you need to do is listen to a song by Don Henley called "Dirty Laundry!" People love to see train wrecks, car crashes, love affairs end, and people get hurt. It makes some people feel superior and others just enjoy the vicarious experience of voyeurism. It is also big business for publications to suggest that they know something about you that nobody else knows, whether it is true or not. The only defense against this is the truth. The trouble with that is that you will generally disenchant the publications that used to make money off of your scandal, and they will try to work against your celebrity. The other defense is a great fantasy tale. Build up a facade and protect it with your life. The bigger and more glamorous, the better. This is a pretty common tactic among celebrities, but it is always worth a try if the truth isn't enough to keep your star burning. Hope this helps.

First of all, rumours are an unlimited source of news/story that anyone can create out of their very own imaginative minds, or else it could be a true story. Why rumours are so fascinating? Simple! Because that is what audiences wants. Rumours are created to satisfy people's need for entertainment. Nothing more. But of course, rumours can destroy who you are, and made you to be something that you are not.

If it is a rumours that will hurt you, there isn't nothing you can do but to confront them and tell them the truth and most important, tell them how hurt you are with the story that they have made up to ruin your reputation.

You have the rights to be treated with respect. Public are easily influenced with what they read in the magazine, but that shouldnt stop you from telling the truth about what really is happening to you. Only you can stop this. No one else. Because if it is about you that they are saying and it hurts you, then it is only up to you if you want that to be stopped.

Be a spoke-person to yourself. Do not let rumours take charge or your life, but you should take charge of the rumours yourself.

Good Luck Amber!

XOXO
