sometimes we make promises with the intention of keeping them, but can't stay true. What is the purpose? hmm
but when one knowingly goes in making false promises..well, we end up calling them bad names..

I do not make promises as nobody has ever kept a promise they've made to me but I guess the reason people make a promise that they know they will not be keeping is in an attempt to gain a persons trust or perhaps simply to upset that person at some point. x

I won't do that...I don't make any promises that way no one gets hurt, let down or discouraged. I always try to leave with this statement:
"I will do the best I can but no promises."

Mostly its to not directly hurt the others feelings or perhaps even make them angry. Its supposed to be a gentle way of letting them down with out teas or a fight but it doesnt always work like that. Depends on the situation.
