1/5 +1/5 +1/5+1/2+1/3
notice that the first 3 fractions have the same denominator.. which is 5..
you can just add the numerators.. just to simplify the equations
3/5 +1/2+1/3
if you have a hard time adding 3 at the same time you could add the first 2 fractions first
3/5 +1/2
their LCD is 10
answer will be 11/10.. .. if you want mixed fractions. just divide... 1 and 1/10
lets use 11/10 .. add now the 3rd fraction
11/10+1/3
the lcd is 30
the over all answer will be...
43/30<-- ==.. to get the mixed fraction.. divide the numerator and denominator...\\
1 and 13/30
the shorter way of solving is...... adding it all at the same time
to solve this... look at the denominators...... 5,2,3
look for the LCD.. meaning.. look for the multiples of the 3 numbers where they are the same
5= 5,10,15,20,25,30
2=2,4,6,8,10......30
3=3,6,9,12,15,...30
the least common number is. 30... if it takes too long for you to get the lcd.. you could just multiply all of them.. 5*2*3 =30
we use that as the denominator
1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 = 3/5
3/5+1/2+1/3= .18/30 +15/30+10/30
=43/30

Use 30 as base
Then
1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 + 1/2 + 1/3 =
(6 + 6 + 6 + 15 + 10) / 30 = 43/30 = 1 13/30

First, add the 1/5 + 1/5 +1/5 since they already have the same denominator:
3/5 + 1/2 + 1/3 (find the LCD which is 30 and change them so they all have 30 as a denominator)
18/30 + 15/30 + 10/30 (add the numerators)
43/30 (simplify by dividing)
1 13/30

1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 = 3/5
1/2 + 1/3 = 3/6 + 2/6 = 5/6.
3/5 + 5/6 = 18/30 + 25/30 = 43/30.

1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 + 1/2 + 1/3
6/30 + 6/30 + 6/30 + 15/30 + 10/30= 43/30
43/30 = 1 13/30

You have to get everything in terms of a common denominator to add fractions. In this case, the lowest common denominator is (5*2*3=30).
1/5=x/30...x=6, thus 1/5=6/30
1/2=x/30...x=15, thus 1/2=15/30
1/3=x/30...x=10, thus 1/3= 10/30
So you have:
6/30 + 6/30 + 6/30 + 15/30 +10/30
Add the numerators:
43/30.
