I was just wondering that because a friend of mine was dumped by a girl that was with him for 2 weeks. I laughed because I told him I had a pet gold fish longer then that. I felt bad, but I told him if he hasn't had sex with her yet he shouldn't be that down on himself.

Ok to the ladies who have said I was shallow pig. I am not. I have a girlfriend currently of 3 years who is now in remission of cancer. I was just asking a general question out of curiosity. I associate love and sex as one. Yes a good relationship needs both among many other things. I was just asking.

Let me give you a startling piece of news....sex is not love nor is love about sex. You must be very young or inexperienced. Love comes from the heart not your weenie.

Sex is an important part of all healthy adult relationships. But for a relationship it can't all be about sex. That is lust. It can often be hard to separate the two. I have been in a relationship when sex came into the picture very quickly and felt I was in love. When the relationship ended I was very bummed but quickly got over it. I have also been in a relationship that wasn't founded on sex and overall was much better and took me longer to get over.

Yes, you can fall in love without having sex. Love and sex are different feelings and actions completely. Love is the emotional part of a relationship while sex is the physical. You can have sex with someone with loving them, but true love doesn't require sex.

I do not believe that you have to have sex to be in love. Love comes from so much more than just the physical parts of the relationship.

You can surely fall in love without having had sex with a person. You can love a a person deeply for their inner beauty or passion or how they make you feel. The sex part itself can be more lust than love. You can have a one night stand and not be in love and long for a person who makes you feel warm inside.

If the relationship is real and the love is real, sex is an afterthought. Sure it's nice, but it doesn't have to be there before you know how you truly feel about someone.
That thought process is sad and shallow.

I think he may have felt something he believes was very deep and real, however, it's probably not enough time to really fall "in love" with someone.
