When in Europe, one who has money and does not work is not looked down upon, contrary to the US?

Because we Americans are brainwashed to feel elite, deserving, powerful, giving, entitled, and valued. Also, we are overly competitive and closed-minded. We subconsciously (as well as consciously) accept the status quo, and so the cycle continues.

Lots of Americans have a complex that has been instilled in them that 1) You must succeed 2) You must try to outdo others in your peer group 3) You must do it by having a job! Having money without a career or job tells others that you are either spoiled and rich because of your family, or you are a drug dealer or making money in some other illegal fashion.

Really? Well that's interesting. I think because we appreciate people pulling their weight. Not everyone works here. Some people play the system so they don't have to. That makes a burden on those who have to support them with taxes.

Besides which, we have a great economy. That's what keeps it going; people working! If a person is able bodied and will not work, to me that says that person is lazy. And laziness is not admired here! (Except when you're on vacation!)

Different people have different opinions, but in my circle of friends, having a job is more respected than unemployment. Not having a job can be looked upon as lazy or spoiled.

In America career and success are very important to the American dream. Laziness is not a desirable quality to Americans. doing nothing seems like a pointless life.

Because in europe it is an embarrassment to have a son who is a drug dealer or a daughter running with the black market. Here it's ALL about money, who cares where you got it, as long as you can spend it and spend a lot of it.

Laziness is frowned upon and having a job is one way of saying "See! I get out of bed several days a week and go someplace that isn't here where they later give me money in exchange for my time and most likely my dignity thus, I am not lazy."

Rich people, in general, are slime. Rich people that don't work are lazy slime.

Cause it is the blacks that are able to have money without working. Actually the n-word. I work everyday, it makes our race look bad for so many people to be supported by our tax dollars to not have to work. A great nation is built on people that work hard to build it. The US is the best nation on Earth, we have to set the example, every citizen has to set that example.
