Let me explain it to you this is how the playoffs work. Teams are ranked 1-8. The top 3 seeds goes to the teams that won their division, the other 5 are for the teams with the remaining best record. Now the reason some teams get home court advantage over the other even though they are seeded lower is because they have a better record. For Example if the heat and cavaliers play in the second round the heat are seeded higher because they won their divsion, but the cavaliers will have home court advantage because they have more wins then the heat. Hopefully you understand now.

The team with the extra valuable checklist constantly gets domicile-court benefit. The branch winners used to get the coolest 3 seeds, yet that replaced some years back while the Spurs and Mavs had the two suitable information interior the West. in spite of having the 2d suitable checklist interior the West, the Mavs had the #4 seed and performed the Spurs interior the 2d around (w/ the Mavs winning in 7). The league does not choose to work out the two suitable communities play interior the 2d around, so as that they replaced it so as that a branch winner is a good-4 seed. i assume branch winners are rewarded with a extra suitable seed basically for winning the branch.

indeed teams are seeded from 1-8 but homecourt advantage is determined by the team with a better win-lose record.

its an injustice if the nba also give hca to a higher seeded team but with an inferior record...

Today's rules is as follows: If a team won their seson series against a future play-off opponent, the winning team would have homecourt advantage. That is to reward the team who won their seson series against their opponent. Kind of confusing isn't it?
