How good is the college of University of California, Irvine?

It's a bottom, first tier school, which is very good if you are not familiar with the rankings.

All of the UC schools are highly rated. US News puts UC Irvine at #44 -- making it a top tier school.

Irvine isn't as highly rated as UC-Berkeley, UCLA, or UCSD -- but it is higher rated than the best university in 30 other states.
