I have a 1996 Corolla and the trunk is stuck. I have a trunk open button on my alarm remote. I tried the remote, didn't work. I tried the pull handle beside the driver side, didn't work. I tried to put my keys in the trunk hole, wouldn't even turn. I tried lifting up the trunk while pressing the open button, didn't work. I think what caused this to get stuck is because I probably slammed the trunk too hard. But that's the best I can guess, I don't even know if that was the cause. Can anyone tell me what I can and should do?

remove ther rear seat...there should be access through there to the trunk. normally using a straight screwdriver on the back side of the lock will undo it. if there is not enough room for you to crawl in then get a long screwdriver or fashion something. odds are you closed the trunk and something was in the way and it got caught in it.

One other thing you may try is push down on the trunk lid while someone pushes the button or turns the key...sounds like you have something stuck in it though.

Try pushing down real hard on the trunk while someone else try's to operate the remote or the pull handle and do try WD-40 on the lock. Otherwise, the only recourse is to pull the back seat cushion out and try to reach thru to manually operate the trunk latch. The cushion may be held in place by two bolts at the front lower corners or just underneath and sometimes they are held in place by clips that you need to push down and back on the seat cushion to get them to release.
Once opened, make sure to get the latch adjusted properly.

i own a repair shop ,and i have a Nissan sentra that did this also ,and i was guilty of shutting too hard ,and it wouldn't open with the cable or the key, have some one push down on it real hard while you pull on the release cable and it will come open again, mine did ,but we just about had to sit on it to get it open ,that's when i learned you don't have to slam these things to shut them, but if you can get someone to help you, while there mashing down on it real hard you can pull the trunk release or use the button or the key,and it will open back up again, good luck i hope this helps.

remove the back of the rear seat.and take a look, at what is causing the stuck situation.
and at the same chance, twist the opening mechanism, and open it.(from inside the trunk)

Spray some WD-40 in the key hole and try to work the key to turn it.

Try spraying some WD 40 into the lock. It may loosen it up. Then take it to the dealership and have it fixed.
