No. Definitely not.
Your friends milk will not transmit your illness to baby, but it does have antibodies in it that are specific to her illness

I would think the immunity benefits of breastfeeding would outweigh the risk of passing it along thru the milk. However its very contagious so could get it from kisses, not handwashing, handling a pacifier, etc. Plus I think the incubation period is like 3-7 days.

One thing to watch out for if strep is around, is a strep diaper rash. My one son and I both got strep throat at the same time, while the other son had a strep diaper rash. Its the same virus.

Also the antibiotics could help thrush thrive, so tell your friend to eat yogurt.

Nope! Actually, the best thing for her to do is to continue breastfeeding! Breastfeeding provides GREAT protection from all sorts of sicknesses, especially early in life.

My mom got strep throat when I was 2 weeks old. She continued breastfeeding me. Not only did I not get strep throat--but I've never had strep throat. I really wonder if it's because she breastfed me while she had it!

I just had strep about 2 weeks ago. My 5 month old did not get it from me. The doctor did tell me that my son would get some of the penicilian through my milk.

Children under 3 usually don't get strep.

no, strep is caused by bacteria in the throat. I'ts pretty unlikely. I get strep throat all the time and my son never gets it and he with me all the time.
