The shooter was not brilliant, he was fearful and took advantage of a University with limited security. If he had planned things as brilliantly as you say, he would have jammed the classroom door locks the day before, and set the bombs to go off in another part of the suburb during his attacks. That way the police would have been distracted and unable to interfere, and the students who prevented him from entering their room would have also been killed.
The reason he was so calm is because he felt there was nothing to lose and he was under some type of influence(demonic/over medicated/other). So he obviously planned to commit suicide or expected the police to kill him. What did he have to worry about? Dead people who fearfully run from the results of their actions, can't go to jail and don't have to deal with social anger. There is also a difference between being a natual loner who is content, and loner due to rejection or fears of people. A few psychologists pointed out that most loners who do things like this have tried many times to reach out socially but never quite fit in such as Cho. So he was not a natural loner, other issues made him that way.
Don't glorify a coward who turned away from God, and chose to act on evil. If anything, we should focus on healing, forgive this shooter, and pray for him and everyone affected, and also pray for people like you who glorify killers and cowards because of their own insecurities.

Umm...not really...he could have saved himself some grief by using fertilizer and some chemicals as a bomb, could have made a radioactive weapon (a dirty bomb, not a nuke)
He had 2 hrs...he could have layed out napalm and pipe bombs throughout the buildings
He could have brought more ammo, and perhaps something more substantial than a pistol (like a semi/fully auto assault rifle) of course...that would have only been needed in self-defense of the cops, because it has range. Classrooms are cramped so a pistol was the best choice...plus he planned to kill himself so he wouldn't need to fight back.
He could have done MANY things better. But, thank god he didn't.
That's the funny thing about crime..."you finally get a guy who knows what he is doing...oh crap, there is finally a guy who knows what he is doing"...See what i mean the better he is the worse things are. Personally i think he would have saved a lot of trouble just to cap himself instead of taking it on unarmed bystanders...but he didn't sadly.
Personally i think it is VERY INAPPROPRIATE of you to ask such a heartless question. Perhaps you should rewrite this when all those families have their sons in daughters in the ground...eh?

He was obviously highly intelligent. Nobody gets into college for being an idiot. He was also a very distrubed young man and I feel sorry for his family and of course for the innocent victims of the tragedy. That said, I hope this tragedy helps start discussion about bullying, although most kids that get bullied don't go on to do this stuff, obviously. I also hope it doesn't further stigmatize people who are naturally quiet, shy types. Just because a person isn't a social butterfly doesn't mean they're harboring some vicious intent. There are plenty of social, outgoing killers too, unfortunately. What we need is a way to recognize these people early and get them treated.

Yes, his plan was carefully planned out. Yes, he most likely had a very high IQ. But Brilliant? Nope. Brilliance would be using his planning skills and high IQ to better the human race. Brilliance would be using his IQ to study and become a doctor who will find the cure for AIDS or cancer. He must have had a nasty childhood. I'm sure that he's answering some pretty tough questions right now.

Apparently he had it planed out . It amazes me how they just get into these schools and colleges and kill . Why wasnt it locked down the first time?
I dont even think you need a high IQ these days , you see enough on TV to get what they consider brainy ideas, which really are not because of the harm it does .
I dont no which is worse , them killing themselves , or taxpayers paying for them in prison . NO win, win , situation .

I don't know as much as you obviously do, but even if he were smart, it would not be anything admirable. People got killed. Families will be mourning. I don't want to think about that killer's brilliance right now. I am shocked and hurt that so many people were snuffed out so senselessly. People will be crying their eyes out tonight because of this misguided person. Could you please stop for a moment and consider the sorrow of these families and not focus so much on how smart the perpetrator may have been? Thank you.

This killer did not draw attention to another location, because
it was 2 hours apart from 2 shootings. He just waited for the classes openned and the crowd in.
He murdered resident manager and a women related who he had confronted before, but not harm anyone in the dorm. So, it seems a serious personal hostility.

I think he had some serious mental issues and needed Help! He was not brilliant. He obviously had no feeling or emotion what so ever. He was and Idiot and is a disgrace to society...even while burning in Hell. I am glad he at least had the dignaty to kill himself...after causing 33 people and they're family so much pain.

He was the typical calculating psychopath. Just like Jeffrey Dahmer or other serial killer or any pedophile who measures their time as they stalk their victims.
This Virginia Tech shooter should have been captured alive for analysis. Now that he allegedly committed suicide it will never be known what made him do it.
