I know that now the PharmD degree is the norm in USA and Canada.

Would I have to sit many exams, or undergo much assessment if I ever decided to move?

You have to get it certified that you hold the equivalent of a US pharmacy degree; then you have to pass the pharmacist test for the State in which you wish to practice.

A four year pharmacy degree after Jan 2003 is not a valid degree. You will need a foreign masters or a U.S. PharmD in the U.S.
