When alone in a crowd of people and not know any one. I just keep a smile whether I feel like smiling or not. Not a goofy silly smile, but enough of a smile to make people wonder what I am thinking. It usually works. because there have been times I have met some very nice people who broke the ice telling me "A penny for your thoughts". I usually tell them the truth... that I am thinking how uncomfortable it is to be in a crowd alone not knowing any one. Then I hold out my hand. Never got the penny but did make new friends which is priceless.

Cruelty to both people and animals. In the case of a person being who is the target of sarcasm or cruelty and who would be embarrassed by my speaking up for them , I try to find some way to defuse the situation to get the negative attention away from them.
If an animal is being abused, I would intervene and/or report the person If a child is neglected or abused, I would report the abuser.

I hate going into an elevator by myself and finding out when the doors close that whoever was in there before ripped one. It makes me nervous that on the way to my floor somebody else will get on and think I ripped one. Hee hee, this happens like once a week. So when somebody else comes on and they get that "What the hell!" face, I say "Oh, I know, it's horrible." I've done that even when in a rare case I was actually the person to let one go in the elevator.

Hearing about someone being done wrong. There is a person that is on Y!A who is going through a tough time due to someones being evil. You want to find a way to make it all go away but it's not always possible.

When there is no control of behavior, that makes me uncomfortable because you're on pins and needles.

When somebody is asking me really personal questions, or just a lot of questions in general. It's a sign for me to clear out of there.

When someone of the same sex is hitting on you and you don't know how to kindly tell them your not intrested. I usually just say i need to do something and leaving the area.
