Weird, long bug?

i was walking outside onto my patio a while back. On the outside brick wall was a HUGE thing that looked like a slug. It was atleast a foot long, and real fat. I thought slugs were only a few inches long. What do you think it could be?

A slug, I live in cold New England and I have seen slugs IN a city, never mind country living, but in the City of Lowell Massachusetts, that were at least 8" long and where a shell should be looked like a brown speckled armor.
