More information is needed. How old is your baby? Why is it necessary to feed only 2 oz. per feeding? Does she have reflux? Is she ill? Is there a metabolic disorder?

The answer could be as simple as "she needs to be burped," or it could be as complicated as "get her to the ER immediately, her life is in danger!" A lot depends on the details of your particular situation.

how old is the baby? she sounds pretty young. try burping her every 1/2 ounce. she could have a belly ache, and babies can over eat. some little babies can handle 3 ounces, but to me it sounds like she has a tummy ache, and needs burped through the whole feeding. my daughter did the same thing. if she wasnt burped through the feeding, she'd get a tummy ache, and think she was still hungry because her tummy hurt, and keep eating, and eventually end up getting sick. if she burps through the feeding, and continues to eat without crying untill she's done, then she should be ok. if you've tried everything, and nothing helps, its always best to call her doctor. i hope she feels better soon! i hope this helps!

How old is she (under 2 mos i'm guessing)? That plays a big part in how much she eats. How often do you burp her? If she's so small that 2 oz is sufficient, you should probably burp her every 1/2-1 oz. Babies don't overeat usually, but I did have one porky piggy baby who would eat until she either spit up or I took it away- you just have to learn their cues over time
. Also, it could be that the milk is upsetting her tummy. You could try a different formula, like Enfamil Gentlease (lower lactose), or a soy formula- ask your pediatrician for a recommendation.

I gotta agree with the girl above. Babys overeat to much constantly because they dont know the difference between hungry and full. But if you overfeed them nothing will happen they will just spit it up. Also, as the baby grows they are naturally going to eat more sometimes it increases overnight. You could also put a little ceral in the bottle to make the formula thicker if thts what your doing. thats a trick thats been around for probably a century or more. Helps them stay fuller longer and helps you get sleep..lol I will however tell you that if your baby is a newborn dont listen to everyone who is saying 2oz isnt enough. most newborns only drink a teaspoon or tablespoon their first few days at a time till their stomach fills out al ittle. remember a newborns stomach is only about as big as a golf ball.

I had some concerns because my 4 week old son was spitting up after formula feedings, so i asked my doctor and she said, babies can not over eat when breastfeeding (it's not as fatty as formula, and is digested a lot faster than formula) however formula fed babies can over eat and will spit up if over fed! I was giving my son 3oz of formula and it was too much for him so i reduced it to 2.5oz and he hasn't spit up since! Try increasing it by .5oz and see if she is still crying. If she does she's not full yet. Good luck!

Are you with wic? I was told to feed my baby only two ounces...I asked my Dr. about it and he said it was a bunch of bull. A baby eats as much as it needs to...no more, no less.

If your baby is still crying after 3 oz, try giving her more. A baby will quit taking the bottle if they don't want any more.

You're not feeding her enough. 3 ounces isn't alot, even for a newborn.
