The press' behavior today has been nothing short of repulsive. sensationalistic, exploitative piss-yellow journalism. "STUDENTS! SEND US YOUR VIDEOS so we can slather them on Wolf Blitzer!!!" and then now all these ridiculous questions and attempts to stir up some controversy, in complete disrespect to the massive loss of life we've had.
listening to these reporters ask questions at these press conferences is infuriating me. these clowns think they're professional investigative journalists, and know better about this stuff than a police chief. trying to make the president of the university look bad. asking leading questions in interviews with students: "so aren't you a little upset about the delay in notification?" "well, yeah, i guess a little." "YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: INCREASING ANGER AMONG STUDENTS OVER UNIVERSITY HANDLING OF THE INCIDENT. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? WE'LL GET TO THAT IN A MOMENT."
it's really disgusting. an embarrassing low for american media. i'm sick of their coverage and feel terrible this is how something so sad is being treated.
Both CNN and FOXNews were just disgustingly promoting their own ratings today. Instead of focusing on the tragedy of what has happened to these students and their families, friends, and loved ones, these networks brought in "experts" to try and find someone to blame.
Nobody is to blame except for one man with two guns and a disturbing problem. This really is an embarrassing low for the American media.

Its unfortunate but there will naturally be people playing the blame game. The attorneys are already licking their chops at a chance to sue someone over it. Students are already blaming the later deaths on the University for not closing classes after the first shooting.
It won't be long before some genius tries to blame the work of an idiot on guns and the NRA (of whom I'm not a fan) and of course the media will be there to fan the flames the whole way!
May God comfort the families of those victims.

SO FAR, I agree with you that the media is deliberately trying to incite anger toward the university. My GUESS is that in hindsight we'll see that some things were mishandled, but more likely by the campus police and other law enforcement officials not making the university aware of the actual situation and feeling that "they had it under control."

I agree with you. It's so sad and people just want to know the facts but the media seems insistent on blaming the school for not acting fast enough. I believe when the school said they did what they thought was best with the information they had. They would of course have locked down the school if they could forsee this trajedy. My prayers go out to all the victims and their families. This is heartbraking.

I do think they are grilling the university staff a bit hard. I will say the same about what they are putting law enforcement through. The attitude seems to be, "what do you mean, you don't know that yet??".
This is a huge tragedy, and the shooter died leaving no obvious explanations as to why. Geez, give them some time!!!!
Let me add the most important thing I'm going to say here -- God Bless all who have been affected by this senseless act.

I think they are reporting the facts and people are naturally expressing anger at what seems to be negligence. Now granted, the facts are not in, but it looks like the campus cops were SURE they had the right guy after the first shooting.
Oops.

I had to turn it off because the spin has started. To blame the University for this is inexcusable and slimebags like that Paula Zahn should be put on the street just like Imus. I'm beside myself with anger that the news networks are spinning this into something it is not.

They are just creating news to fill the 24 hour coverage. We probably aren't going to know all the facts for a couple of weeks. The authorities aren't going to release a whole lot of information until they have completed their investigation. There is going to be a lot of speculation until then.

The media is making it known in such a way that someone is going to get pissed. Then they will have another story to report on

Media does report anymore. We have individuals on cable and satellite who try to force their opinion down your throat, hoping to become the next great network anchor.
