Better status? As in moving from lower to middle class?

You will have to attain a higher paying job or as another suggested a second job. Usually education leads to more employment opportunities and higher salaries. If you don't have a college degree you should look into getting one in a highly desirable field such as healthcare.

Unfortunately you won't be garunteed to move up in the world. The republicans have worked really hard to systematically dismantle the middle class and widen the gap between the haves and have nots. Keeping this in mind use your voting power to vote in democrats or greens that are for a living wage and workers rights.

Stay out of debt and learn to buy for cash once you have saved for what you want. You will increase your buying power instead of paying it away to the bank. Simple math the schools not teach!!! Why you think Teachers say they not make enough money? They not know the math, but, surely they were smart enough to know the pay before they start a job?

You have options. Get a raise. Or work two jobs. Or learn something on the job you are now doing that would require a raise. More education my friend. The more you get the more you get paid.
