Yep, used to do that every few months. I would be so desperate to make a full roll of dimes I would go searching through the house, car, and ask family members if they would trade me dimes for my extra nickels and pennies. Now I take all my change to the bank like once a year, but I just deposit it.

I've never taken it to the bank but I've paid for gas with 20$ in nickels, dimes & quaters.I bought a 1$ lotto ticket too, it was good for 2 more tickets, those two tickets were good for 5$!
The cashier laughed & said I must have good luck & I told her if I had good luck that I wouldn't have her sifting through all that coinage! TeeHeeâ¥

Yes. Last year I tried to exchange five gallon plastic bucket of one cent American and Canadian coins that was nearly impossible for me to lift. International border cash exchange
service, located steps away from the MIB and assorted scum
from half our known universe, declined to accept that copper.
Ditto, my credit union, but it did give me two handfulls of the
paper wraps to fill. It took nearly a week. I have that bucket
still one quarter full of credit union Canadian 2-dollar coins.

I have done that. I had around $700 in change.
It paid of the last of my student loans. Mind you, I had been saving my coins for about 3 years in this old whiskey jar and I Krazy-Glued the lid so I couldn't' take it off.

I remember those days. I used to be really bad with money. I would have to hide money from myself, just so I wouldn't spend it. Wasn't hard, either, I was pretty f%#ked up, back in the day.

I didn't roll it up. I used the Coinstar machine, but it takes .8cents/$1.00. It was a vacation fund. I got about $175.00, not much.
