My son got a lot of bad diaper rashes. We tried Triple Paste and it works wonders. It's more expensive but definitely worth it.

My son has had regular diaper rashes and one time a yeast rash. The diference between the two is that a regular one should go away in a few days (no more than 7)with desitin(or my personal favorite A&D)and a yeast will not go away unless the doctor reccommends special ointment for it. If it's a yeast diaper rash it will keep spreading no matter what you do. Another thing is that a yeast infection is drawn to moisture. So keep the baby in undies or leave him without a diaper for a few hours. Make sure that when you put the diaper on that his skin is super dry. And of course you should talk to your ped.Another thing if your going to use A&D the best one is the white one, for some reason it has something that the colored one doesn't.

Simple diaper rash tends to occur in the areas that touch the diaper directly, or places that are wiped frequently. Yeast infections tend to occur in the creases - leg, butt cheeks - all those nice, warm, moist places where yeast loves to grow.

What really sets the two apart are the 'satellite lesions,' which are small red spots that are separate from the main red rash. Sometimes they can look slightly scaly - like you can scratch off some dry skin. There are usually a bunch of satellite lesions, so you don't have to look too hard for them.

Any sort of anti-fungal cream should clear it up - stick with something for babies, though, as it could cause an allergic reaction. Nystatin is a great option.

Diaper candidiasis (yeast infection's big name) is really common, but you can try to keep it from coming back by keeping him as dry as possible.

Good luck!

Is he teething, or has he been on anti-biotics lately? Those are always the precursors to a yeast infection for my babies. Also, usually 2 soapy baths a day (with good rinsing of course) + consistent use of diaper cream with zinc oxide usually clears up a regular rash in 1-3 days.
Is the rash bubbly, or just smooth red skin? Smooth red skin along with loose stools might indicate a food sensitivity (and it doesn't have to be a new food- my first child didn't develop a milk sensitivity until he was 18 mos).
You can use the over-the-counter vaginal yeast infection creams to treat it if you still suspect a yeast infection, they aren't as strong as the nystatin cream your doc would probably prescribe, but i like to use the lowest dosage possible to start with on my kids anyways.

My daughter got a yeast infection when she was a year old. It actually looked like a normal diaper rash. I took her to a pediatrician, who made me look closer at the rash, and he pointed out that the rash had little white bumps (like pores on your face) Thats how he knew it was yeast.
You can also try visiting this website to request a free sample of diaper rash cream. It's the best cream i've came across so far. I've only had to use it once. Within a few hours my baby's bottom was baby soft again! It really does work! Just click the link below and request a free sample!

Hello, Let me start out by just saying to you that I was told that a diaper rash is triggered by yeast. I know from my daughter and her experiences that they can be VERY painful at times. The best way to go about doing it is to treat it even if it is not that bad, and even if it doesn't seem to be bothering him. Because it could turn into something a lot worse than you would ever expect. Antibiotics also cause them and makes them intensify greatly! Is he on any antibiotics? Yeast we know loves warmth. so let your little one run around without a diaper for a little while ( that's what I did with my daughter) and she loved it! But use a diaper rash cream that specifically says "seals OUT wetness" Pynxav (pronounced like pinksav)works real good. and I like Desitin too. So try them and see what you like, but get to the bottom of it before it gets worse. Good luck!

A bad diaper rash goes away in 3 days 4 tops but a yeast stays forever, my daughter had one and had to take her to the pediatrician who prescribed a paste with some kind of penicilin, after that it took only a couple of days to get better, so, if it has been more than 4 days you have to take him to his pediatrician because normal stuff that you get at the grocery store won't work.

For my kids.. the diaper rash is a rash all over their bottom. A yeast infection usually is small red pimple looking things. I can tell the difference because of them looking like pimples. If in doubt.. take them in!!

diaper rash with yeast infection will be bright red. Sounds like just normal rash. Try Aveeno Diaper Rash Cream. If it won't heal up then consult your pediatrician.
