The Society for Creative Anachronisms' webpage at www.sca.org can point you in all kinds of right directions. Find your local group using their page and contact that group. All of our chapters stage "demos" from time to time and sometimes on request. In all likelihood there are SCA members that live near you that will be happy to help. We do fighting demonstrations, costume displays, heraldry lectures, medieval feasts, etc. whatever specialties each group can offer. Even if they can't do a demo for you (usually due to scheduling conflicts with other local events) they can offer sound advice and suggestions. Music is rather easy - folk Irish bands such as Solas, Clannad, Steve McDonald, David Arkenstone, the Chieftains, Loreena McKennitt, etc. as well as a CD or two of Scottisn reels and strathspeys such as performed by Silly Wizard or any good piping CD such as All the Best from Scotland work well. Agood webpage that offers such music is Firebird Arts and Music. Look on my 360 page blog for a good photo of a fighting demonstration at a local Ren Faire. Good luck!

Well, if you can deck the camp with medieval banners, have minstrels sing at the camp fire, have medieval names for the counselors (Sir Guy, Dame Isabelle and such), have one activity with knights (one is enough), might wish to do a tournament (any games will do here but avoid swords and sticks for kids as injuries cost A LOT. They might want to cheer of THEIR counselor in swordsmanship though). Archery is good. Do you have horses?

Going for a walk? Wrong. You're on a quest.

Food would be theoretically roasted upon spits or in pots but if Medieval Times can get away with it (2)... then any thing without utensils will work (burgers, pizza, chicken, wraps, etc..). Since we are dealing with kids, hamburgers become Dragon burgers, milk could be magic water (and so on...get the counselors to name the foods) but keep the meals healthy.

Music is basically folk art (fa la la's are from medieval times), add in a bit of country, a dash of modern like the music track from 'A Knight's Tale' (3) and voila.

For costumes, ever see Robin Hood, men in tights?

Have fun...

Town Ball, with slight rule modifications could be fun. It is sort of rugby meets soccer meets football. Few rules, you try and get a ball into the other teams goal by any agreed upon means. Enjoy at your own risk, in its original form it is dangerous.

Bring out the old swords and broadaxes and let the kids go at it....... it'll certainly make the time go A LOT faster.
