I would definitely use Google maps. Satellite image as well.
You will actually be able to see yourself walking around your neighbourhood and looking lost.

I doubt it. However, if you go to any mall, find the little location kiosk and look for the dot that says YOU ARE HERE, you might then have a clue about where to start! Good luck!
