I think it is a terrible tragedy, and very frightening because it could happen anywhere. As a soon to be college student, it's scary to think that things like this can happen. I'm not sure if they could have prevented it, because campuses are open for people to come and go. It's hard to keep an eye on 30,000+ people all the time. I think maybe the presence of more security, as well as implementing an emergency alert system, so the other students in class could have been informed could maybe help in the future.

The disgrace isn't any human being else had a gun or a weapon of any form, one professor did placed himself between the gunman and his students he died. organic panic from being in an finished overseas situation is how he were given the better hand. he had the administration genuinely each body else had concern. Tragic is the in basic terms genuine idea that contains my options. it truly is too uncomplicated to arm chair quarterback after the very truth. It would not change something. What ifs are in basic terms what the are what ifs. at the same time as someone that ill has almost as good a desire to do evil the way he did, properly a common rational human being won't be able to stop him. In in the present day's global you would possibly want to be prepared or a minimum of do not forget that you'll finally end up in a number of those situations. Even then there is no longer a lot you are able to do. The media stated each and each of the caution indicators this guy gave off. properly once you quite imagine about all of it of us comprehend someone it truly is acted or had lots of an same traits as this killer had. How do you placed those variety of remoted incidents at the same time and are available up with a mass assassin. Its very complicated if no longer no longer plausible to get it proper each and anytime. One tiny needle in a unmarried huge haystack. Its in basic terms yet another signal of the cases.

As a VT alum, I am deeply saddened by the terrible events of today. I am thankful that none of my remaining friends were involved. It stinks that the media is so fast to fault the faculty for not locking down the entire campus in between the two shooting events. I think they probably reacted as well as they could---VT has about 35k people on campus during the day, if a shooting occured in a city of 35k should the whole city be locked down? There was no way to know that someone would go 1/2 mile across campus and shoot classrooms full of people.

It is a horrible tragedy. How in the hell can this happen?! Schools are supposed to be safe. Haven't we learned from previous school massacres? By this point our country should've added more security to schools. This is the biggest school shooting, with 33 victims! Have we learned now? Will we ever learn?
This makes me more thankful for my loved ones. My thoughts go out to the family and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives and to those who had to live through this terrible nightmare.
More security is urgently needed for big campuses like this one. I only hope we will not go through one of these tragedies again.

This kind of think cannot be totally prevented.
But, if the killer hadn't been sure that all the students were unarmed, he might not have tried it.
And if some of them had been armed, the casualties would have been lower.
Massacres (in the US at least) don't happen in high-crime locations where some people carry guns. Even a low-life thug would rather shoot a mass murderer than let him kill a few dozen people.
So, wouldn't it be better if more law-abiding citizens carried guns?
We need to have the courage to defend ourselves.

its really really sad. makes me so sad...
i dont like how the reporters are up on everyone like crazy. yesterday one reporter asked a parent "how would you feel if you heard you child had been shot?" WHAT THE HECK! i would have slapped her in the face and said.... yeah? 1000 times worse than that!
i think its so horrible and selfish of this asian guy to do that. i guess he just shot the first two and then decided... well hes gonna die or go to jail so why not make a name for himself... even if a bad one...
i think its wrong that they say the school should have done more. of course its easy to say that now after its happened, but no one can say unless they were there. i mean if i were in class and someone came and shot my professer would i have jumped on him and attacked him or would i hide under my desk hoping he wouldnt see me? i just dont know. i would have been scared and everyone was. they should stop criticizing the school, they are going through enough already.
that kid was just mental and very sick minded... he was going to do something bad no matter what and he would have found a way to do it no matter what anyone did.
the other sad part is that now the media will probably go after the shooters family... cause hes dead they take it out on his family. which really isnt fair at all... it would be humiliating to be them. to be known as the parents or the sister of the kid who killed 32 innocent people...
i pray for everyone who is affected... the shooters family, the victims, and especially their families and friends. theyre in our thought and prayer.

It has been long overdue. When was the last time we had a large massacre like this. It has been a while.
The F**khead was a retarded *ss video game freak. He spent his entire life wrapped up in video games. His parents didn't have the bouncy balls to beat the phucker when he was a kid.
And the school should have had a better system in place. emails don't always work. (do i have to prove this)

It is so sad to think of the innocent people that were killed. It is depressing that this happens so often in our country or anywhere else for that matter.
I think that it would be very difficult to keep it from happening.
There will always be one person waiting to explode somewhere in the world. We just have to pray that these people get help before this kind of thing happens.

They should get a fast alarm system and a security force that is fast and be prepared. They need to find out how to spot these things before they happen so they can be stopped.

More secure doors ( with locks) and a properly trained and fast reacting campus police force. Instead of surrounding that building, they should have moved in.
