I sure hope most people understand the need to allow people to defend themselves.

Hillary I could hug your neck bless you sweet heart. I damn sure hope someone protests at Virginia Tech. If just one student had a gun this could have ended early on.

And for once I hope the trial lawyers have a field day suing the hades out of the University and the Cops. How in the name of Heaven could this guy have run amouk from one end of the campus to the other for over two hours and no one did anything. This was clearly wanton neglect on the University's part.

The NRA probably will protest because they're attention whores. Gun control on campus is a no-win situation; with the heavy alcohol use on American campuses, students with guns readily available is a scary thought. However, when situations like this arise, it's easy to say that students should have the right to defend themselves.

My personal experiment continues, I have left a .45 on my counter top for over 7 years now, and it has yet to kill anyone. It has been in my presence when I have been happy, sad, angry, and have felt cheated. STILL no deaths.
I may not be practical for every one to be armed all the time, but society has signaled it's unwillingness to take responsibility for it's own safety, and the courts have helped this right along. Those poor souls are indeed victims of our own weaknesses and laziness.

I don't think a campus protest would be appropriate, though I agree with you that casualties would have been lower if some students had been armed. This is a very solemn time for the community.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to have to remember to bring my gun to class. Guns have no place in a university and any student who does arm himself/herself when attending class should be kicked out of the school.

Either everyone needs a gun or no one gets a gun. It needs to be one way or the other, the current way is not working.

God bless the NRA.

Give the student's guns?

That will just create more problems.

Legalize hand grenades then. "Hand grenades don't kill people." I'd feel safer with a few concealed grenades on me.
