well if he/she wants to learn let 'em. word of advice dont force the piano or any other instrument on your child. the kid has to be willing to learn. not forced otherwise they wont learn anything atall. i say get the guitar if they really want it. i know i wish i would've learned bass guitar younger.... it would be a lto easier. cuz learnign an instrument is alot easier supposably when your young. Good Luck and who knows maybe you have a future little rockstar as a kid!♥ let the child live it's own dream!♥

Playing any instrument takes a lot of practice & dedication - from both you & her. If she is more interested in guitar than piano, you'll have a battle every day about practice & lessons so save yourself some heartache. 9 is a great age to begin learning any instrument, just find a teacher who enjoys working with kids at this age & not adults, because there are different approaches required. I also thought my daughter would take piano lessons, but then she fell in love with the violin & asked everyday for over 3 months before we began lessons. She was only 3 then (yes, it was only her idea, I wanted to wait) & is now 9. There have still been the occasional struggles to get her to practice, but overall she's still ecstatic to play, so I say go ahead & let her try. If possible, you may want to rent a guitar before you invest in one, in case she changes her mind after a few months.

Don't be silly. What ever age you might be when you decide you want to do something because of a interest in it and for the joy of learning how to do it, is the best age to do it. This spark cancels out any age consequences there might be. You will learn so much faster and have way more fun than most younger folks who learned under deress because they were told they "should" or had to do it and would rather be at the mall with friends than practicing lessons or are thinking about boys instead of listening to instructions/

My 4 year old has been taking piano lessons for 7 mths. Teacher says she's a natural. Now she's asking about the drums!!!! I think that as soon as there is an attraction to any type of instument we as parents should jump at the chance we may not have had.

anything...I started guitar at 10, and at 16 I find it's a good thing to have(there is a shortage of girls who can really play guitar), I also started bass a couple years ago, which I love. Piano is a good gateway instrument, as is guitar. let her chose what she wants to start with: guitar or piano. I strongly suggest learning, and there is no "too young" in music. good luck to your daughter!

I have afriend who started at age 6. I am a teenager, and it really should not be what the parents prefers when it comes to hobbies. If your child really wants to learn guitar, then I say let her learn guitar. If you want your child to be a success with the instrument/sport/other hobby then they must enjoy what they do, otherwise they will just do what you force them to do half-heartedly and maybe be average at it, but will never develope a unique style due to lack of passion for what they do.

No its not too early , so don't wait and if you make her play/learn an instrument that you like or an instrument that you would prefer that she learn you might disinterest her in learning to play altogether.

I don't think any instrument is easy to play. It takes hard work and dedication. If she wants to learn Guitar I reccomend letting her test it out for a while. If she likes it, let her continue. I also reccomend she starts with an Electric Guitar, Acoustics are hard on the fingers and harder to play.

well piano is a difficult insterment to master but once lerand she can leran to play any insterment
A guttair is esay to lern but you should ask a guttair specailest to sise her (example neck sise, string space, fret space/sise,body,wight,pick ups) the gutair not your daughter.
make sure she can play all 6 strings and all 24 frets esay
Drums are the esayst to leran and they are fun
Bass guttair is a good begeneir insterment but a nine year old might not be able to play one. just let her test one out
