My 8 month old hates being on her belly, therefore crawling is not happening. she kind of walks (obviously with me holding her hands). She can roll over, but stays on her sides most of the time. Any advise on how i could get her interested in being on her belly

We do belly time sometimes, but only for a few minutes. All she does is get grumpy and then start screaming.I tried putting her toy a bit away from her, but all she does then is scream as if the world ends.

My son never crawled. He shuffled along on his bum until he started walking around the furniture. Don't worry about it.

My little girl is one in 13 days and wont crawl, I just think shes going to totally skip it, my other three children were all crawling between 8-10 months they just did it, I have always let mine have lots of free time to play on the floor, not on their belly if they dont want as mine have never liked it but just being on the floor gives them the chance to move about when theyre ready

Don't push this stupid 'belly time' if she isn't enjoying it. She will crawl in time, she has pleanty of time yet!

All babies are different. I know some who didn't crawl at all and were walking by 12 months, others who have never walked at 18 months.

Don't stress it!

Get on the floor with her sitting up and play with a toy, get her interested then place the toy a little distance away from her and leave her to figure it out!

My daughter at 9 months still didn't crawl. She absolutely hated being on her belly until I bought a boppy and stuck her on her belly in it. She loved it!!! After 3 weeks of that she was so close to crawling. Unfortunately she had an underdeveloped hip and had to have hip surgery and is now casted.....so she didn't quiete crawl. But she was so close. The boppy worked wonderfully. It kept her belly off the ground so she didn't mind being on her belly. Good luck!!! I went through the same thing with my daughter. Everything is going to be 3 months further delayed for her, but I'm optimistic. Some babies never do crawl, but she might....just at her own pace.

My son (who is now 5) ignored crawling all togeher and went straight to walking at 11 months. Some children are far to interested in wahts going on around them to want to look at the floor. Try putting her on her belly and putting her favorite toy just out of arms reacha nd making lots of noise.

Have you tried getting on the floor on your belly in front of her to play some floor games with her???
Try putting something just out of her reach as soon as she is on her belly so she may be more determined to try to get it by scooting or crawling. My oldest son, scooted army style across the floor in all directions at 6 months old, but never crawled on all 4's...he went straight ot walking (or running I should say). My little guy, who is just over 6 months old now, is moving around in all directions on the floor except for forward. He gets up in a crawl position , rocks back and forth, then falls flat because he doesn't know what to do with his arms....All kids crawl at different times, if they even crawl at all. Don't stress out about it.

My 8 month old grandson had a time crawling too but what we would do is place his favorite toys just out of reach and he'd scoot on his side over to them. Each time we'd move them a little further away and eventually, he just up and started crawling. Give her a little time, she may and may not crawl...some babies walked first. Good luck !

Get her to spend more time on her tummy-get down on the floor with her and engage her in looking at toys on the floor. Force the tummy time even if she fights you on it. Try ten minutes in the morning and ten minutes in the evening and increase it by a minute each day until you don't need to do it anymore. Some babies just don't crawl--she won't die if she skips crawling and goes straight to walking. Best of luck!

SNAP!! i and many others im sure have had the same problem. It is common for babys not to liks being on their tummys. My baby only started to crawl properly at 10 months. She pulled herself along on her bum for a while now at last she crawls and she now follows mw around the house wherever i go. Be patient and she will progress when she is ready.

I wouldn't worry about it some babies never crawl they just go straight to walking.
My little one was the same as yours, hated tummy time and wouldn't crawl. She would bum shuffle round the room. I kept asking people for ages when will she crawl as everyones elses seemed to be crawling, then one day when she hit 11 months she just crawled out of nowhere, the same day she decided to stand in the cot and walk with me holding her hands, she'd done nothing for months then it all came at once so beware!!!!
