a would be 1 b would be 8 and c would be -16

you do -b plus or minus the sq. root of b2 - 4ac over 2a. Complete the equation you will get two answers.

x2= 8x-16

subtract 8x and add 16 for both sides to set the equation equal to 0

x^2 - 8x + 16 = 0

to factor, look for two number that multiply to 16 and add to -8.

the two numbers are -4 and -4

(x-4) (x-4) = 0

or (x-4)^2 = 0

x = 4

I suppose you need to find the roots (or the zeros) of x?

x^2 = 8x - 16

x^2 - 8x + 16 = 0

(x - 4)(x - 4) = 0

(x - 4)^2 = 0

x = 4

Answer is -8.
1. Divide both sides by x.
2. Then subtract 16 from 8.
3. Answer.

1. (x2)/x= (8x-16)/x: x=8- 16
2. x=8 -16 : x= -8

First you need to set it equal to zero.
0 = x^2 - 8x +16
find a common factor
0 = (x - 4)(x-4)
set each part equal to zero and solve
x = 4

^2 means to the second power
get everything to one side
x^2-8x+16=0
=(x-4)(x-4)=0
x-4=0
x=4

x^2= 8x-16
x^2-8x-16=0

(x-4)^2=0
x-4=0

x1=x2=4
