Anything I can do to remove the rust and make the tool usable? Thanks

Take the rust off with WD40 or even an SOS pad, and then dry it well with a towel. Rub it down with some oil, and store it in a dry place.

I did that once. Here's what solved my problem. I took some WD40 and cleaned the heck out of the thing. Then I got some 3 in 1 oil and greased the blade up. You will have to let it run for a bit but it will come around.

Use a fine emery cloth and some oil to remove the rust.

Soak them in WD40, and then give them a scrub with some steel wool.

spray some wd40 0n them,let it soak for afew minutes then rub them with a little steel wool,next wipe them clean with aclean rag

I would pour CLR on them, scrub it with metal mesh and wash it. CLR is liquid and available almost almost everywhere like walmart, kmart, Ace. I have cleaned many things with it including scissors and it works well.
