i really dont have a hero...and i need one for this school project. (this project excludes calling you family heros) anyway... we are talking about how people use the term hero too lightly and its dulling down the definition of a real hero etc...i can write the paper myself but one of the questions is "who is your hero" and i dont have one....who are your heros (besides family) or who can i choose as a hero so i can get this damn project done

Firefighters and Policemen are excellent heroes, especially the ones who went into the Twin Towers in New York City. That high rise building was a death trap but they went up to try to put out fire and save lives. Many gave their lives trying to save the lives of others. These are true heroes.
The soldiers in Iraq fighting to help those people get a better way of life. They lay down their life for the Iraqi people, because they are doing their duty as a soldier. These are true heroes.
Just recently a man covered a child with his body while a train passed over the top of them and saved the child's life. This is a true hero.
Jesus said, "no greater love has any man than he lay down his life for a friend."

In 1989 there was a student 'uprising' in China on
Tienanmen square.
The government send in the Army and many people were
killed. They send in Tanks.
And when they were rolling down to the Square, out steps
a single man with a shopping bag, and steps right in front
of a column of 17 Tanks.
The first tank swerves right he swerves,it swerves left he swerves left.
The whole world has seen what this man did, it is the bravest
thing I ever saw anybody do.
This is a true Hero.

To this day nobody knows who this man was, but he was voted into the 100 most important people of last century.
( I think ).

Do you admire a political figure or a sports figure perhaps who has overcome some adversity to become successful?
I just saw a movie "The Pursuit of Happyness" It is a true story about Chris Garnder who worked long hours and endured homelessness and despair to become an intern at a stock brokerage firm. He won the spot and is now a millionaire.
His story is covered in his book, also called "The Purusit of Happyness"
This is a story of an "everyday"person who saw a goal he wanted to achieve and worked like mad to get there.

Choose yourself as your hero. What is it that you really like about yourself or that others admire in you? I look at the things that I have accomplished and I am please with myself. I inspire myself.
The only other hero's that I have other than myself is my Heavenly Father and my daughter. She is only nine, but I have learned a few things from her.

I had to do a project just like that a few years ago and just like you, there was no one I looked up to that wasn't in my family. I would recommend going to http://www.yourtruehero.org/index.asp. From there, you can click on categories such as women, firefighters, etc. and they will tell you a list of people who have preformed heroically in the eyes of many people (muhammad ali, oprah, ghandi, rosa parks, etc.). My hero is Jesus because He died on the cross for all mankind for you and for me. He helped a lot of people no matter what their back ground .
