They provide great incentive, but you need to have the drive to do it and the faith to fuel that drive, in order to acheive the goal.

Think about it this way
You have to do an important project. But, the topic is so boring that you don't want to put effort into the project because you hate the topic so much. However, when you have to do a project on a topic that YOU love, you suddenly seem to want to put the extra effort into it and make it better than any other project than you've ever done.

In every situation, the outcome depends on the person's motivation to achieve success. The more motivation there is, the more effort will be put into it. Majority of the time, the more effort, the more chances of achieving your goal/ reaching the point of success. Even the smallest things in life require motivation to get them done, for instance, instead of working out, you could be watching TV, but something motivated you to run a mile outside or go rollerblading.

The closer something is to your heart, whether negatively or positively, the more emotions it arises, also leading to more basis for motivation.

Yeah that's true to an extent.

If you had a quick short goal of accomplishing something - that is totally possible. If it's a longer term life goal then you might fall a little short if you can't keep the flame burning hot!

But your emotional responses to situations in life are key to how you are going to be in accomplishing set tasks. The higher emotional state you have, it's more assured that you will move, think and act faster and problems won't stick to you as much as you'll be smoothly and quickly resolving them. That's the reason for keeping yourself up there and happy - you accomplish more in a given period of time compared with others around you and it will be noticed.

So the moral of the storey is be up-tone emotionally and win!

Fasle. Emotions are limiting. Emotions exclude rationality.

No. It takes determination, persistence, courage and wisdom in order to succeed but sometimes emotions can become very powerful "motivating" factors.
