I am 14 weeks preggo and all of a sudden the other night I got a throbbing pain on my lower left side from my bikini line to my hip. It lasted throughout the night and the next day. Unfortunately it was saturday so I couldn't call my doctor. I wasn't spotting it was just a very uncomfortable. By Sunday night, it left my left side and now it is on my right side. It feels as though I pulled my muscle and when I move certain ways or sit down it is painful. It doesn't seem to hurt when I lie down. I can't call my doc until tomorrow so I just wanted advice. Do you think this is ligament pain or maybe a pulled a muscle? I am very petite under 5 feet. Has anyone felt round ligament pain like this?or pulled a muscle? On another note my stomache always feels so heavy when I wake up in the morning like there's a big water balloon inside. Once I get up and move around it's gone. Has anyone had this or know why it would feel like this? Thanks for your advive :-)

Due to the flood of hormones in pregnancy. It is very easy to pull a muscle this is due to the fact that a hormone called Relaxin makes a woman more flexible then what she really is. You find that you over stretch doing day to day things such as getting out of bed and you don't realise until the next day when you are sore. The other thing you are feeling is bloated the best way to combat this is by drinking plenty of water and light gentle exercise. Everything your feeling is normal.

It sounds like a pulled muscle. Round ligament pain doesn't last as long as your symptoms. Remember that our muscles and ligaments are really loose right now so that our bodies can expand to accomodate baby and the birth process. You can take tylenol for pain and use heat and cold compresses for your muscle spasm.

The water balloon sensation you are getting might be your growing uterus putting pressure on your internal organs. The farther along you are the bigger that balloon gets...soon it will be a basketball.
Best of luck.

first off, the person above me is a douche.

next, drink more water, it will keep your joints from throbbing and cramping up

if it keeps continuing, ask your doctor hon.
