I have a 94 chevy caprice with a 350 lt1 engine. I have recently had a tune up and my fuel pump replaced. Car starts up fine but has a very slow take off when 1st started, and after stopping then going. The car is also jerking a lot, but this usually also only happens at take off, but also while I am driving at times. Does this sound like a transmission problem?

Start simple, check the transmission fluid level first, make sure it is topped off.

May be a trans problem. Many transmission shops, such as Cottman Transmissions, offer free diagnosis. I recommend going to a good transmission shop and having it checked. Transmission problems are often misdiagnosed by many mechanics, and the transmission rebuilt when it was an engine problem all along. Good luck.

I once drove a car that jerked quite a bit and I think it had water in the gas.

Have you had the fuel filter replaced? Were the spark plug wires replaced? Could it be the torque converter (if it has one) instead of the entire transmission?

unfortunately my friend, that is definitely a trans. problem. it's even a more expensive one considering that it,s an overdrive. you might as well bite the bullet on this one and have it rebuilt, don't put in a used one you'll just be asking for trouble. good luck.
