Can anyone recommend a cool French speaking band to listen to.? I am a big fan of rock and indie bands... if it helps..

Michel Polnareff's early stuff is very cool, although he can get a little wild with the orchestration. Serge Gainsbourg was one of the most unique musicians ever. He was like a combination between the Marquis de Sade and Leonard Cohen, and his records are utterly fascinating. Try "Initials B.B." (recorded with Brigitte Bardot) or "Histoire de Melody Nelson" to get an idea of what he was about. The guy was way out there, and Beck, for one, says he was a big influence. (He should because Beck steals from him all the time!)

I think there's a french rock band called Kyo, with songs like 'un derniere danse' and 'le chemin'. They're pretty good, but if you do look them up, there's also a Japanese band called Dir en Grey with a member named Kyo, so sometimes if you search for Kyo the results can get confusing.

umm...gojira is a French progressive death metal band. Their sound combines elements of thrash metal, death metal, progressive metal and sludge metal and as a result some sections of the press refer to them as the 'french Mastodon'.
the only thing ive heard that came out france so far.
