They seem to have a fetish with possessing the means and power to kill others.

Not to make fun of people.
But you have to laugh at people who claim to want to be safe, and think the only way to achieve that is by arming the population with deadly weapons.
Funny?
Animal kingdom?

No - not possible.
There are two kinds of people answering this question here. One belong to the red group and the other belong to the blue group and each has his/her opnion based on the collective opinion of the group. The study that reported that states with strict gun laws have more crime is bogus.
There are numerous flaws in the study. It is easy to buy a gun in Virginia and kill people in Boston - so in a country where there aren't very strict interstate check points, gun smuggling is easy. The study is useless. A more reliable study would be to compare deaths in same number of crimes in populations that have guns or don't have guns. For example in Japan, since there are stricter gun laws, far fewer attempted murders end up in deaths compared with USA where somebody who wakes up with the idea of killing a few people ends up killing a few hundred; because very sophisticated guns are so freely available.
Blue states have a significantly larger population of afro & hispanic people who are poor and illiterate. As such the crime rate is higher and has no relevance with the study quoted so often by the people in the red group. The study should be on how many die in crimes where guns are involved vs how many die in crimes where guns are not involved.
If you carry a gun and a thug with a knife wants to rob you, no matter how macho you think you are, your chances of dying increase because the thug will wrestle your gun and shoot you. Just having a gun doesn't make you more secure - most likely there will be three of them and you just by yourself.
You are more likely to kill someone out of rage if you have a gun than if you don't. It is common sense. THINK!!
How many bank robberies were prevented because somebody in the audience was carrying a gun??. Don't you think at least a few people making transactions in the bank had a gun on them?? Come on !! Yet the roobers get away!!How many people fought their muggers becuse they had guns on them?? Now compare that with how many people die because of gun accidents every year. Include crazy shooting sprees in your calculations. The math is so easy even a red person can do it.
People who join the military and police usually belong to the red group of people and subscribe to all red party agenda. I know a lot of very poor self employed people living in trailer parks, driving gas guzzler old model trucks who vote for low taxes and high wages for CEOs of Enron and Halliburton.

Arming the entire population would not make you safe at all. In the perfect world only responsible, mentally stable people would have guns but as seen again today that is not the case. Sadly today violence seems the answer to many people. I am glad I live in a society that controls guns I dont live in fear that my children will be shot in the street or at school.

Do you honestly think a mugger is more likely to mug someone if they know most people are armed?? Let's just ban guns all together so the only people with guns aside from cops are criminals ....That's like tying a boxers hands behind his back and expecting him to be able to KO his opponent!

Actually, I hate guns, but hey, just because I don't like them, doesn't mean all people do.. A criminal is going to get it no matter what it takes, so all's your going to do is take the guns out of the peoples hands who follow the law..
Do you really want those sort of odds??..
Now that's scarey

Any police office I have EVER talked to has advocated the use of personal firearms, the professional training with firearms, and the absolute personal use of firearms.
If you were a perp (perps know when someone means business) and you approach someone to commit a crime (mug, rape, murder...) and that person falls down into gun stance with and reaches for a side holster...would you not stop and crap your pants?
See liberals .... are communists or just plain brain dead and pass laws that punish everyone for the acts of a few. Most of them are simply ignorant. But a died-in-the-wool liberal is one who is communist and seeks to undermine everything this country stands for....lobbying for laws that restrict the masses. But do they ever stop true crime? NO.. what they get is organized crime with crime LORDS born out of their ideology..and that is in the very least.

Considering the amount of wackos out there who like to cause harm to others for fun I would say NO.

outlaw any form of gun except for sawed off shotguns and make it a felony not to carry it at all times. this will encourage people to always keep a safe distance. I am a liberal by the way.

Well, explain this you liberal freak, every state/city/county that has gotten a concealed carry permit for it's citizens has had a dramatic drop in violent crime....On the other hand, every place that has strict gun laws have the highest rates of violent crimes.....Your argument doesn't hold water and the facts stand for themselves. That's assuming you care about the facts or are just using the typical liberal "feelings" to argue your case.
