she should be eating solid by now so if he wants her to gain some weight feed her rice cereal. infant rice cereal will put weight on a baby fast. but i think shes a good enough weight for 7 months. Tell the doc if he thinks shes not getting enough vitamins then he should give her some vitamins.

According to the American Association of Pediatrics, your baby, at16 pounds and 7 months, is between the 25th and 50th percentiles for weight for her age. She really isn't that small. That means around 25-50 % of 7 month old babies are smaller than her, and about 50-75% of 7 month olds are bigger than her. So yes, she's below the median, but definately not dangerously so. It would help to know how long she is.
Also, the AAP recommends an average of 2 ounces of formula per pound of body weight for the first year of life, meaning your 16 pound baby should drink around 32 ounces of formula....so I'd say 30 ounces isn't that far off.
I wouldn't worry as long as she seems healthy, and eats well, and keeps growing.

She should be eating cereal by this time so the amount of formula she drinks would be less.. depending on how much she eats... My daughter was eating cereal ( the rice, barley, mixed..) and was eating the jars of baby food by 7 months so she didn't need a lot of formula with it, I think i did around 3-4 8 oz bottles and like 3 to 4 meals

i can tell you first that your daughter is not little for her age, my daughter weighed 15 lbs at 7 months and the doctor said she was right on target and at a perfect healthy weight. There is no way a baby can drink that much! Your doctor is psycho, he would have told you to start feeding her more baby foods like veggies and fruits, that helps the most!

I have three kids and thay were all different. They weighed different, drank different amounts, did things at different times, well all but walk, they all walked before they were one. But no, I wouldn't listen to the doctor unless she was way under weight and it might cause her harm. Let her go at her own pace, don't force her to drink more then she can. I think the Doc. is a little physco too! Hope I could help in any way. :)

you are your childs mother you need to do what your natural instincs tell you let your baby drink what he/she wants to not what a doctor who probably dosnt even have children tell you. you know your child and what your child needs let your own instincs guide you. when my daughter was a baby i was told she was chubby to put it in a nice way for her age lol i was told to reduce feeds by a midwife but i refused to as this isnt what my child needed and now she is a perfect weight for her age all children develope differently and at this age they are developing quicker than they will at any other point in there lives there are so many things going on in there little bodies that not everthing can be perfect but over time everyting will balance out, dont worry about it and let your baby guide you on his her needs. hope this helps

The general recommendation for the first year is 26-32oz per day. They do make a high calorie formula that is generally used for premature babies that you could try.

LOL. I think he is too! Babies only eat what they can, alot of doctors say what to feed them and what not to feed them. If your baby can only eat 30 oz, then that's all she wants to eat and can handle in a day. Does she cry alot??
