Yeah that's it. Never mind its because of the limestone or the fact that if it were black it wouldn't be very cool in the summer.

If I remember history correctly during the 1812 war with Britain the British burnt Washington D.C. including the White House.
The name arose because the building was painted white to conceal the marks of the burning.

I'd say because it is a White House - as in the colour of the paint, not the colour of anyone's skin.

This Bush Administration is giving the term "White House" a bad reputation.
Besides having to delouse and sanitize the structure after he moves out maybe changing it's name would also be a good idea.

Although we have a long way to go to eliminate racism, the name White House is due to the fact that the house is built of white-painted Aquia sandstone in the late Georgian style.

You know, I was chillin' at the spa the other day with The Man, and I asked him that very same question. He said "Beardog, you just don't get it. I don't hold down minorities exclusively, I hold down poor people of every color. It's how I stay so rich! The minorities thing is just a diversion." Then he realized that I don't actually have any money, and had me bodily thrown out of the spa. That's okay, I don't need to hang out a fruity rich people's spas anyway.

What would be subtle about it?
The earliest paint colors were rather more limited than they are today. Lead White was used frequently.

That's funny. They were gonna call it black house , but that damn white limestone screwed everything up and they had to change the name. I think it's the limestone thats prejudice! Have you ever seen any black limestone? Have you? Let's file a suit against limestone!
