Sounds really Christian to me. Wake up, get dressed, pray, lock and load, and get mentally ready to bust caps into people each day.
So this is your vision of civilization and following the teachings of Christ?
Being prepared to personally kill someone each day?
Have you guys considered either speaking to a mental health professional or your pastor?
You need help all the same. You are sick people.

Captain....."Just because I own a gun, doesn't mean I think of killing people."
Are you aware of how insane your remark is? Then what do you own a gun for? Peeling potatos? You own it to inflict severe and lethal harm upon others. Yes. You need help! Please go out and get it.

You NRA types are all on a perverted power trip. That's all it is. The guns give you power over others. Get help.

It's more the Rambo sort of fantasy usually. Killing hundreds of _________ (insert favorite enemy) with a .22 and an empty beer can all by themselves.
*sure is a lot of compensating going on here eh?

Criminals get their weapons through illegal means - that's what makes them criminals. Pass whatever law regarding background checks you want, but it's not going to affect how criminals get their guns. That's the point of contention that opponents have with universal background checks. The change will only affect lawful firearm owners. Not to mention that the measure is only effective if used in conjunction with a national registry. Does the government need to know what books you have? It's relevant because your books and my firearms are both being used for no unlawful purposes, so the government has no right to know what either of us have. I've bought almost half of my guns at shows, but I have yet to buy one without a background check, so there's no such thing as a "gun show loophole". Background checks might not be done when a sale is made by a private seller. Guess what? If a criminal makes a purchase that way after universal background checks are law, there still won't be a background check. All that would be accomplished is further intrusion by the federal government into the lives of private, law-abiding citizens.

In answer to your belligerent, bigoted question:
I am a Christian. I pray everyday that I can use reason instead of force to do my job. I also pray that I will go home every day to my family.
I don't get a thrill out of wearing a gun, I get a tremendous sense of responsibility. I don't use it to pick up chicks, because I like guys, and most people don't know what I do for a living unless they meet me on the job.
I have never had to kill anyone, thank God, but if I have to use force and it comes down to it, I will.
If that makes me sick in your eyes, then so be it. Perhaps you should call a mental health professional the next time someone is trying to break into your house. Perhaps you should call your pastor the next time your car gets stolen, or you get held up at the ATM.

You obviously have a closed mind against the gun owners already. Why are you asking questions when you don't try to understand the answers?
Most Americans who own guns do so for several reasons.
1. Self defense. If a robber is in your house, and the police is still 20 minutes away.
2. Collection.
3. Hunting.
4. Because the 2nd Amendment protects your rights to bear arms.
And a very few minority (like 1%) of gun owners are sickos like the guy who killed the kids at VA tech.

Boy, are you out of touch with reality. I hope you never get a gun of any kind. If anybody needs a health care professional it sounds like it would be you.
We enjoy knowing we can protect ourselves from people like you if needed.
I doubt you have read any of the Bible or know anything about being a Christian, just check out the Old Testament and see how many wars God helped in.
Was that one of the ten Commandments? You shall not have weapons to protect yourself.....I must have missed that one. I don't think God wants us to be victims of crazy people.
By the sound of hatred in your writing i doubt you know anything about being a Christian.
Maybe you should see a Pastor.
I will pray for you.

I've never met any handgun carrying NRA members that want to blow people away! I have a handgun not a member of the NRA, but have thought about it, yet I have no fantasy of shooting people.... Your question is a very stupid, generalized and very liberally left wing biased!
Then you go and answer your question with a question before anyone even answered it!! And I quote.
"So this is your vision of civilization and following the teachings of Christ?"
I own a handgun so if someone were to break into my house, get that MY HOUSE, I can protect myslef and any guest in my house from receiving any kind of harm from the criminal that broke in! DUH! I have no idea what their intentions are towards me or my property, and do you really think I want to find out if he wants to kill any witnesses? How ignorantly stupid can you anti gun freaks be???

First off you are a Christian bigot.
Too bad an NRA type didn't have a gun, locked and loaded, he may have been able to end this when confronted with this person.
You need a mental health professional for help with your distorted anger. As you have exposed yourself, you are a sick person. You ultimately will blame Bush?

Your stereotyping of NRA members, 99% of whom are decent, responsible American citizens, is inexcusable.
I was in favor of gun contol until around December of 2000 when the Supreme Court chose the 43rd President of the United States. While George W. Bush is running the country I am vehemently opposed to any laws that prevent me from owning a gun on any day I choose to purchase one. The last thing I want is a government run by him to have easier access to weapons than the American people.

We don't, but you obviously do. I have carried a gun for over 30 years, have killed 3 people with it, wounded one and probably prevented over a dozen crimes by just having it in hand. You otoh would happily lineup at the wall like a coward.
BTW, why do you assume that all gun owners are NRA and Christian? I can only imagine the racist stereotypes you think of minorities.

I nor my family will be victims. If you want to be a victim join the democrats, they love victims and hates those who refuse.
I do think of the ramifications of pulling my weapon and the reasons for why I would. I take the responsibility very seriously, as I do for most of my personal responsibilities. Do you?
My wifes mother at 89 y/o was just victimized by crooks, forced their way into her house, stole her checks and threatened her if she told us and ripped her off for every last dime she had. Of course we will support her now, but I do think about having my retribution on these guys. I know the system will either plea bargain or their attorneys will win an acquital on a technicality and they will never end up being responsible. I would just like to MAKE them, just once.
You know you have to be one sick paranoid person to spout crap like this.

Try self protection against the MORONS that think the world OWES them a living and they are out to take it. Do you really think if you get down on your knees and BEG the person aiming a gun at your HEAD is going to say Oh sorry dude I don't mean to kill you and your family and freinds, but I just have to. Please when a gun is pointed at YOUR HEAD call me so I can see YOUR Reaction. I'll bring a clean pair of pants for ya.
