one guy claims he has had one 14 years with no problems.....Call CNN , this is truly news.I ride with several groups and most times the Harley will have problems and cause delays. Last trip the new Harley quit and had to be flat bed towed back.I gave the fine gentalman a ride home on my HONDA.If Harley's are so good ...why , when people fix them up , do they change the motors to a after market one ???And why if Harley's are so great , are there so many used ones for sale ?

When I was a teenager I used to sit in the Harley show room and drool over them. Then all I could afford was metrics. Now even after owning several Harley's and more metrics than I could count I still go to the Harley showroom and drool.

My current Harley has about 40K on it and has never once left me walking. The resale value is 27% higher than it would be for an equal metric so its a good investment. As for the used Harley's for sale, I would guess its because some people have more money than brains and buy them as a status-quo then decide they don't like to ride. What ever the reason I would take a old beat to hell Harley over a metric in a heart beat. And yes I know many metric riders that would never own a Harley. Its all personal preference and choice.

By the way you can knock my Harley all you want as it don't bother me. However I would not recommend you do it in front of my 8 year old daughter because she may kick some ***.

The reason there are more for sale is a simple one...I'm surprised that you really didn't have the brain to figure it out yourself, but came to this site for answers. The reason is simple. As with any product that is bought and eventually sold, the more there are in the world, the more are available to be sold. So if a million Harley's are purchased each year, and 100,000 Honda's are purchased during the same year, it is not surprising at all that there are ten times the amount of Harley's available for sale.
So what...you saw one motorcycle break down. It couldn't be because the person didn't take care of it, or that they didn't follow the maintenance schedule, it has to be (according to you) that the manufacturer is responsible. Why is it that every time I pass the Honda dealer, there are 20-30 bikes sitting there in some stage of being repaired? Is it because they break down so much?
If you don't like Harley's, don't ride them. I'd bet that the dealership that is near you, wouldn't want to sell you one anyway.
Just remember, the next time you go on a summer ride in a poker run and see the guys and gals with T-shirts on, and count the number of tattoos that say HONDA on their chest or anywhere else.

What do you care what other people ride? I like harleys because they are made in America, they have a good resale, they ride good, and they look good. If you don't like them, don't buy one. By the way, I am under no illusion that my Harley is more reliable then your Honda. I'd still rather have my Harley.

Whatever.
Too bad you got a lemon.
Mine is fine.

Never even test rode it.
From the showroom stand, out the door. The only problem in 8800 miles was my fault. I ran the battery down.

never owned a HARLEY...but Ive always been a boy racer..
so the *** bikes were the wepon of choice....
but them Buells do look & sound nice.....

Harleys do have one thing going for them..RESALE VALUE.

*** bikes dont have a good resale value....but they are quick..

so you buy what you want.......why do people buy vintage bikes....new ones are faster & more reliable...

the answer is pesonal preference......& the Yam FJ 1100 is mine..
