Move the earth away from the sun, seal up all the volcanoes on the planet, kill all the animals.
Don't be an idiot -- there is NOTHING man can do -- even on on a global scale, short of a full scale nuclear winter, that will alter the enviroment enough to make any difference. The enviro-nuts have changed their position so many times about global warming/new ice age/global warming in the last thirty years that they have been forced to simply call the diaster de jour 'climate change'. Well if you read any scinece history you will see that the earth has been undergoing climate change for over four hundred years PRIOR to industralization. We need clean water, clean air, recycling and alternative fuel sources because it just makes common sense. NOT because some dope like Al Gore says if you don't drive a Hybrid car the planet is doomed.

The first thing we should do is look at what is contributing the most to CO2 pollution (outside of waste from animals). The answer to that is coal fired power plants. If you were to then narrow the problem down to different economies of the world you would find the largest contributor would be American coal fired power plants. This theoretically should put us at an advantage because it could be said that one government has the power to change the largest contributor of CO2 pollution in the world. The next thing one would have to consider is a realistic alternative for producing electricity. There is only one real answer to that, nuclear. I think we should do away with coal fired power plants in favor of fast neutron reactor power plants that only produce about one one-hundredth the waste as thermal nuclear plants. We should also invest in researching pyrometalurgical reprocessing, which would enable us to burn spent fuel from thermal nuclear plants in fast neutron reactor plants.
The next largest contibutor would be basic transportation. Three words: plug-in hybred diesels (four words I guess). Ford has a prototype that gets 65 miles to the gallon. You would have four different options to fule your vehicle, petrolium, bio-diesel, coal-diesel, or your local power plant. The batteries in these types of vehicle have been very expensive but I believe Toyota is cuming out with a prodution plug-in hybred so the technology must be here by now.
What ever the answer is it is clear that the government needs to put value on our environment and become a leader in the world when it comes to solving this problem.

There is no way to reverse the effects of global warming. However, there is alot we can do to stop it before it gets worse.
1) We can switch from conventional gasoline to other sources of energy to decrease CO2 emissions. Some other fuels could be E85 (85% corn ethanol), hydro power, or even solar power.
2) Switching to flouroscent lightbulbs release less CO2 and burn less Coal.
3) Insulating your home retains heat, and uses less fuel.
4) Keeping your tires inflated can improve gas mileage.

stop all emissions of gases that are harmful to the environment, plant more trees, stop breathing, lol but seriously, if we could just grasp concept on how easy it is to drive a car that is actually good, then we would be set, but it wouldnt be an immidiate reversal. but heres the question i want answered, if global warming is sooo bad right now, then how come i can go from like nice 60 degree weather to 28degree with snow in two days?

Look at it this way, we must reverse what we have started. The industrial revolution is more than 200 years old. So my best guess is, if we completely reversed what we have started it would take at least 200 years to get things back to normal. Here is the problem, as it stands we humans have no intention of completely reversing what we have started and therefore it could take hundreds and maybe thousands of years to get back to a more normal environment. Next we must define normal environment. So as you can see there is no right answer and we have put ourselves in a heck of a position.

We can stop using so many fossil fuels and look for more alternatives. Also stop leaving tvs and things on when you aren't using them and unplug anything that isn't absolutely necessary all the time like your cell phone chargers.
