The Mayan calendar ends then, and as it is very accurate does it mean our world will end?

I don't believe the Mayans said the world will end on 2012. Instead, it is my understanding that they believe the world will end as we know it. However, my research has lead me to believe that there may be a catastrophe (pole shift) as we approach this date. The following is a summary of the Mayan people and their predictions for the time.

_______________________________

The Mayan Indians regard their beliefs as both a science and a religion. Their discoveries are not done in a lab but rather by tapping into the cosmos via the mind. Through the extensive use of meditation, they are able to discover and track planetary movements as well as space anomalies such as black holes. They used this information to construct a calendar so accurate that no present day calendar can rival its accuracy. They also use this information to predict future events.

According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be center aligned , in the Milky Way's equator. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. We will have exited the forth dimension and entered the fifth dimension. This date also marks the end of the Mayan "Great Cycle" of the long count, which is equivalent to 5125 years. We exit the age of Pisces and enter the age of Aquarius.

In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity may cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. In this state of higher consciousness, we will recognize that all matter, plant, animal, mineral are bound as one. This realization will mark the end of wars for a time. People will be able to connect to the essence of god (vibrating energy) like only the most enlightened can.

The date marks a goal to be reached. Evil forces will make every effort to keep humanity from reaching the date. These evil forces are those entrenched in the third dimension, in the Material world. They have no desire to leave this age and wish to continue exploiting and endangering all life for material gain.

Wars just prior to this date could be most devastating, with a loss of as much as 2/3 of our population anticipated. The resulting man made environmental damage could make life inhospitable for those who survive.

Humans have freewill, Man's future is not set yet, nor predictable:
STRIVE FOR PEACE

No. The Mayan calendar merely says that, "there will be a baktun ending in 2012, a significant event being the end of the 13th 400 year period, but not the end of the world.

No .. the Mayan calendar for the old era runs out in 2012 BUT I have a calendar that I bought at Barnes & Noble and it runs out in Feb 2008. That's when the world will end. The Mayans had it all wrong.

Number 12 is a strange number.
For example, there is a prophecy by Saint Malachy called the Prophecy of the Popes. He predicted there would be 112 popes starting with Pope Celestine II. It turns out that pope Benedict XVI is the 111 pope from that prediction:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes

This is what Saint Malachy says about the last pope:
"In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations; when they are over, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the terrible or fearsome Judge will judge his people"

Saint Malachy's predictions are known to be accurate, he even predicted the month and day of his own death and got it right.

Will this prediction be true? We will just have to wait and see.

No. My desk calendar expires December 31, 2007 and it's very accurate. That doesn't mean that the world will come to an end on that date.... do you think?

nope

The Mayan calendar is "accurate" because people manage to predict the past with it. Funny how that always works, whether you use that, Nostradamus, all the words in the bible re-arranged into a special code, Dan Brown, or star charts.

The future is trickier.

It could possibly be i mean the world could end at any minute. But this would be by mostly nuclear war. Let me explain it will be either the United States or Russa will detect a nuclear missile coming towards the country (but it will or really wont be a nuclear bomb) and then the opposing country will see it and send there nuclear weapon to that country and then that country will send theres off to the opposing country that shot theres off because they thought that the other country set thers off then you know it will destroy the earth etc. do you get what i am saying vote for my smartness lol.

properly, you spot, previous Nostradamus were given addicted to the prediction project and correctly let's in basic terms say he were given a touch over excited and went ahead and predicted the proper of the global. that's one prediction that really made human beings think about who he replaced into. notwithstanding, in elementary words after he did that did he comprehend that no one ought to really care about his predictions after that and he ought to lose his attraction and acceptance. So i guess he in basic terms kept on predicting and predicting and predicting (in basic terms in case the proper of the global project replaced into incorrect) and to keep the activity he replaced into used to doing. yet you've been sensible sufficient to capture previous Nostradamus predicting a touch too a lot. hehehe! :O
