What is the slope for these two equations? [Please explain how you arrived at your answer, if itsn't too much trouble.]
d=330t
d=16t
(d=distance, t=time)

Also, please help with this other question:
If a bird flies at a speed of 15 meters per second (m/s) for 10 seconds, 20 m/s for 10 seconds, and 25 m/s for 5 seconds, what is the bird's average speed?

PLEASE and THANKS!!! I would really appreciate any help on this! Oh, and please don't respond with something cruel like "do your own homework" because we hardly learned about this stuff today in class, so I need so help with it. THANKS for any help, once again! =)

For the first one the slopes are 330 (for the first equation) and 16. This is because the equations are in y=mx+b form where m is your slope. d and t have just been substituted for y and x. Also in this equation you have no b value. The slope is 330 because for every 330 units you move right you will move up 1 unit, the same for the second with the number 16. Whenever trying to find slope you want to get one of the variables alone on one side.

For the second one you can do 15x10, 20x10, and 25x5 and add all those values up. Then divide by the number of seconds (10+10+5=25) to get your answer. This is because you are looking for speed as a function of time or your average speed is the total distance flown divided by the total time spent flying.

Hope this helps!

Say d equals x, and t equals y. The equations are already in slope intercept form (y=mx+b). The number before x is the slope, and the other number (in these cases 0) is the y intercept (where it crosses the y axis).
So the slope of the first one is 330 over 1 (330up/1right or 330down/1left).
The second: 16/1(same but with 16)
Hope this helps!!!

2. Well, use the speed for each second--
15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15
20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20
25, 25, 25, 25, 25
added together that's 475. Now divide by 25 to find the average: 19. So the average speed is 9 meters/sec.

Good luck!!!

Total distance traveled = 15(m/s) x 10s + 20(m/s) x 10s +25(m/s) x 5s
Total distance traveled = 150m + 200m +125m
Total distance traveled = 475m
Total time = 10s + 10s + 5s = 25s
Average speed = 475m/25s = 19m/s

If t=0, then d=0 and if t=1, then d=330. Plot this on a graph and let t be the x axis and d be the y axis. Slope = rise over run = 330/1 = 330.

Ok, The bird's speed

First we need to work out how FAR the bird has flown altogether.
Its journey is in 3 stages

(1) 15m/sec for 10 seconds = 150 m (15x10)
(2) 20m/s for 10 seconds = 200 m
(3) 25m/s for 5 seconds = 125m

This gives a total distance of 475m
The bird has a total flight time of 10+10+5 = 25 seconds

Average speed = distance / time = 475 / 25 = 19 m/sec

this it the birds AVERAGE speed because during its journey, its speed varied so the "average" speed is taken as the TOTAL distance / TOTAL time = 19 m/ sec

diffrentiate the equations you will get 330 and 16 o plot them the slopes of the diagrams will be the same 330 and 16

x total=15*10+20*10+25*5=475
t total=10+10+5=25

v avg=475/25

The second question: bird travels 150m, 200m, and 125m. Add and you get 475m. bird travels 10 secs., 10secs., and 5 secs. add: 25 seconds Meters/seconds= 475 divided by 25, so the average speed per second is 19 meters per second. I can't help you with slope.

On the bird thing the answer is 19. Multiply 15X10, plus 20X10, plus 25X5=475 divided by total # of seconds, 25=19

y=mx+b so the coeff is the slope 330 and 16.
15x10=150
20x10=200
25x5=125
150+200+125=475
10+10+5=25
475/25=19

Not sure I can help you since your teacher might have a preferred formula; but if you hardly learned about it in class then something is wrong. Go to your teacher and ask for help. This will impress the teacher that you really care. But hopefully it might make her/him think twice about the teaching method used. I bet you arent the only one who is having trouble so dont be afraid. Bat the ball back into the teachers court if you know what i mean!

for the second one S=Distance divided by time so
15m/s=distance/10sec
so the distance is 150m becuase you multiply the /10 by 10 to get it out of the gutter and whatever you do to what side you do to the other so 15x10=150. email me if you dont understand!
good luck
