SINCE SOME GALAXIES ARE MOVING TOWARD US AND OTHERS ARE MOVING AWAY WOULD THIS NOT CONTRADICT ANY EXPLAINATION THAT THE BIG BANG THEORY MIGHT PROVIDE?

1. Don't yell
2. The galaxies that are moving towards us are close by, you will not see any galaxies at great distances coming at us.
3. The Big Bang Theory is the best we have, if you think it's bs come up with something better, something that explains one of the puzzles that can't be explained by Big Bang Theory (and make sure it hasn't already been explained which it may well have been).
4. Learn what it is you think is bs before saying it is. Scientific claims can not be dismissed as easily as religious claims because scientific claims tend to be made in such a way that they tend to be at least somewhat accurate.

The Big Bang theory is actually mathematically sound. Scientists can predict what was happening up to 0.00000000000001 (or so) seconds after the Big Bang, when matter was still just forming. The part they don't know, and what leaves room for God, is where that whole point of everything that ever existed came from. Some point to an infinitely oscillating universe, or a multiverse, but that's about as likely as God, in the fact that we simply don't know scientifically. There is good evidence that the universe really is as old as it is--the constancy of the speed of light is a good measure of the universe's age. The furthest object we can see is about 13.7 billion light years away, which is how old the universe has been calculated to be.

Of course some galaxies are moving towards us and some are moving away. The Andromeda galaxy is heading our direction, I believe. However, this is due to local interaction among galactic structures. The universe as a whole can be expanding, but the supercluster containing our galaxies might be twisting in such a way that certain galaxies move towards each other, or it simply may be that our gravitational pulls are dragging the two galaxies together.

the only galaxies that move towards eachother are ones gravitationally bound to eachother (groups) of galaxies. however some groups that are close together are also moving towards eachother. BUT if you look at the universe as a whole EVERYTHING thats not right next to something else is moving away from everything else. so although your logic is correct, you just didnt know all the facts. type in galaxy clusters in a search and maybe you can see a picture of what exactly is happening. i hope this helps!!!!!! the one thing i enjoy about science is that a "theory" has to be "proven" by being able to make predictions. whats so amazing is that some predictions as in the case of some of einsteins predictions were found to be true once the technology to look for and test those predictions was invented. so before you go misbeleiving science you need to educate yourself on how things actually work!!!! good luck!!!!!

The Big Bang theory is just a theory.

To say it is BS is BS. You would have to be really knowledgeable in cosmology to say that.

Keep and open mind (all scientists should do that, also), but for goodness sake do not show your ignorance by calling something bs when you obviously have such little knowledge in that department.

in Astronomy Magazine some one questioned the Big Bang Theory a scientist . the scientist wrote an article explaining how various theories about astrononmy are not widely excepted by astronomers or theorizers on how the universe works. theories gain acceptance in time. the expanding universe idea was mentioned. i think Stephen Hawking often says he is wrong on points so if hawking can admit it so can others and new theories can be made. the big bang theory is not set in stone remember Capernicus and Galileo

Very few people with any intelligence. The only galaxies moving toward us are part of the local group bound by gravity but that group as a whole is taking part in the expansion.

Dan, stop reading the Ann Coulter books, and burn the "left behind" box set! The bible says God said "Let there be light". Seems to me, if Almighty God spoke, that would be a Big Bang. And as for some Galxies moving toward us, they were close to the center when God spoke so are moving toward us, the ones moving away from us were at an oblique angle, so that's why they're moving away.

It's total BS. The real way the universe formed was that God ordered a family sized case of Play-doh and made things for six days. On the 7th he watched football.

Not being a scientist or physicist or astronomer or biologist or whatever else you might have to be to explain the theory of the beginning of the universe i have to say honestly i don't know.Everyone has their own opinion and that is all we have to go.

99% are moving away. Andromeda is moving closer because of gravitational effects. Sorry, try again.
