I think everyone has the potential to be valuable, but also that some people have much more value than others.

After all, we may all do good things, some of which have benefits well beyond our ability to trace. But some people almost indisputably have an inordinate value, and end up making contributions that affect millions or billions of people.

That is one way in which Marx had a point. A person's labours have a value that is dependant on how easily they can be replaced. In the grand scheme of things, even though we NEED plumbers, one plumber is much like another. But some artists, scientists, and activists (just to name a few ways of making a difference) do things which would be ridiculously hard - if not impossible - to be able to get others to do.

While it would be nice if I were one of those people, I don't think it's appropriate to venture an opinion on the matter myself. I am WAY too partial to be a good judge.

Peace.

Who is more important ?
The people that work for the companies that make the cleaning agents that sanitize and kill the germs/viruses that would otherwise make us sick?
The people hired to use them to clean public washrooms ,kitchens, hospitals etc. so that we don't get sick?
The doctors that treat the illness when we come into contact with these germs/ viruses that make us sick?

There is no one person more important than another. No matter our position we each have an effect on the lives we touch. The seemingly smallest thing that without even knowing you've done it can have an effect on another person. This value can never be determined by money, job position a family name or social standing. Everyone has something to contribute and all are equally important.
just my thoughts : )

In some regards, yes. In others, no.

What the opinion of others does for me is of little consequence; yet, the morals and ethics I chose to live by can make the value of another's life to be much higher than my own. If I see something happening, and I know that my direct intervention will end me, while saving another, I will, without regret, save the other person.

However, this is not the same for the next human, so don't assume I speak for the majority. I only speak for me.

No. I wish I could make a difference, and MAYBE be honored enough to be mentioned by history. That's not my goal, to be more important...
My goal is to live life happily, helping others when I can...so no, I am more intelligent than some, but not many, and I am less intelligent than others.
No, I am not more important...but I AM still a part of this world, and no matter how small, my life will make a difference.

Well, religiously, everyone is equal, but when it comes to how effective at life one is then a doctor that invents a cure for cancer can be more important than a construction worker.

Sure, we all think we are more important than the next person or those before and maybe even those to come. But to our mere ego, we are not. We are just like they, we all put our pants on the same way....one leg at a time.

No. Every person is a vital piece of the puzzle of life. Everyone! Money and status and job and religion do not elevate any one person over another. We are all equal in God's eyes.

Anyone who adds to the collective intelligence of the
world and/or aids their fellow humans is worth more than
those that don't.
Ppl who are pure parasites are expendable and need
to be used for immediate organ donation !

I do not even think any of us are more important than any other species, never mind other people.
