What does American History mean? What does it represent/symbolize?

It symbolizes the rise to greatness from the "bottom". We had no birthright. No nobility. No true national identity. We had ourselves and the land. From there we acheived the same heights as the Roman Empire. All one needs is the drive to do it, and the faith to fuel it.

American history (DO NOT capitalize "history.") as it is referred to in schools really means United States history. It represents the story of the development of this nation and its people. It really does not symbolize anything in particular.
