Probably because they play in the same city and vie for the same fans. That always makes for a good rivalry as it does in New York between the Yankees and Mets.

It all got started in 2007, when MCR and Fall out Boy both wanted to play at the superbowl in North Dakota. They both went, and Fall Out Boy kicked the soccer ball right into the coach of the Red Sox's groin, which made him sterile and he never had anymore kids, so his children (all of the players of the cubs) went to war with the state of Kentucky so that they could take prisoners to double as children for him. Still, the Red Sox's coach betrayed them, and sent them all to a secret prison somewhere in Latin America. They escaped, and ever since, they have been trying to kill him with a rocket launcher made of solid gold.
Also, there was a giant goat that ate the coach of the Cubs, so they had to get a new coach, and he was that three legged thing off of the war of the worlds, and he killed the goat, and it's owner cursed them for not giving it waffles before blowing it up. It loved waffles.
