Call the Office of the Mayor in your city, and ask if they have a
"Motion Picture and Television Film Commisison,"
with website information on moive and tv shows being filmed in your city.
Most large cities have a TV/Film Commission.
Try Backstage.com, they list auditions.

What the person above said is a good idea....plus, sometimes casting calls for extras are put out on Craig's List and in newspapers. There are also agencies you can sign up with to be cast as an extra.
