Gasoline was spilled in a closed garage which we were storing a couch. The couch is now being used by my brother in his apartment and the smell of the gasoline is overwhelming. I don't think any gas actually got onto the couch, just the smell. Any ideas on how to remove it? Fabreeze didn't do the trick.

Lots of fresh air, but probably even that won't do it. Gasoline smell lingers forever...sorry!

Try airing it outside for awhile. You could put an upholstery cleaner on the cushions and fabric areas too. Vacuum that up and let it sit outside for a few days. On some yu can unzip the cushions and have them cleaned. Also talk to your local dry cleaner.
