We entered when it was pretty much a stalemate that would have resulted in an uneasy truce that would have been sure to break out in war again, and fought to another stalemate that resulted in Germany's surrender on terms that ensured that war would break out again.

we were dragged into the war by Woodrow Wilson who also was America's biggest bigot at that time!!!!!!!!
