didnt the term "Ho's" basically get its origin in rap music ? and most of the rappers are black of course (the ones that arent black need to find a new line of work...please we saw enough with vanilla ice)

so let me get this straight ... rappers can coin a term and then if someone else uses it , its not cool , its so uncool in fact hes got to be fired

if there is anyone (or any group) here that seems responsible for a problem ... i would say its the rappers for generating an atmosphere where any and all women or girls can be referred to as "hos" and/or bitches - and the only other group who shares the blame are all the millions (and millions) of people who buy into that way of thinking by buying the albums and adopting the lingo

why does this guy Imus have to be the scapegoat for this culture wide phenomenon (as shameful as it may be) (the phenomenon that is) - and saying the rappers speak only of the world they grew up in seems a very poor reason to refer to women like that

I think I may love you.... They ARE wrong, kiddo! Imus blew it for sure when he applied it to a specific person/persons. Dear Donnie blew it with me a looong time ago. Don is not a scapegoat, Don is just an idiot. Slander is actionable, to say nothing of jeopardizing his network's income...business, you know. I am supposing rappers enjoy the same "license" as other "artists" remember the bozo recieving NEA funding for a sculpture constructed out of feces? Art, my ***!

The rappers are very wrong, and the language they use is disgusting. However, 3 reasons why Imus is wrong:

1. Don Imus has been a slimebucket for over 30 years, so this really is not new for him.

2. Don Imus is 2-3 times an average rapper's age. Of all African American figures to listen to and follow, you choose a rapper twice your age???

3. There's no other way for me to explain this point but with an example: I was in my cubicle at work and there were two Italian-Americans talking. One says to the other that they no longer drink coffee after their meals. The other one responds: "You don't drink coffee anymore?! What kind of a GUINEA are you??!!" Now, with my hearing that, I know that it was not said out of malice, and they were just talking. However, I also am intelligent and conscious enough to know that that is a derrogatory word that I, as an African American should never even think of using because while Italian Americans can use that word amongst each other, I KNOW that that is not a word for me to use.

The double standard is not just in the Hip-Hop world or just in the Black community. EVERY group has a double standard.

The rappers ARE wrong, too. But, perhaps artistic expression, and being black (for the most part) provides rappers and muscians with protection from the harsh truth that they perpetuate negativity. As a "journalist", and a white one at that, Imus was held to a higher standard, which is fine, but perhaps a boycott of offensive lyrics and music would be a start to get the musicians in line. If they can't be censored by the establishment, the "fans" need to take a stand, and hit the offenders in the wallet.

I first want to say that I think rappers should cleanup there act also, but with that said remember rap when it started in the early 80's was not supposed to last long.It was just a gimmick..Now that it is blownup to this big billion dollar moneymaker and is listen to worldwide by all races,we now are looking at the actual rapper himself. Some of these Rappers are not well educated people and in some cases come from bad upbringings so we cant expect to much from them in terms of making society better.Imus on the other hand is a well educated man and should have know better cause our society expects more from him in terms of uplifting society. He knows he made a mistake why are people still defending him.Now to make it worse they want to compare rappers to Imus.I think that is crazy because Don Imus is supposed to be smarter than that.He is a well educated man.If he was trying to be cool then he failed, but to use his show as a plateform to humiliate was wrong.

first of all lets get something straight when rappers talk about "ho's" in their song lyrics they aren't referring to ALL BLACK GIRLS and not even neccessarily referring to black girls.. it is clear who the ho's are and what makes them ho's... Imus on the other hand assumed the Rutgers female bball players were ho's because they were black. TOTALLY DIFFERENT. and anyway i listen to rap music and the most recent song i cant even think of a recent song that uses that term.... not to mention the only rap your referring to is the kind suburban white teens are obsessed with not the good stuff that doesnt get much media coverage.
