Please help solve this question. In the state of VA when the boy is 19 and the girl is 17 they have been having sex for 2 years and the girl's father wants to press charges against the boy because he doesn't want his daughter to be involved with him.....

depends what state you are in....I'm not sure how it is in VA but in New Hampshire as long as the age is within 3 years and consent was given, it's not illegal.

I'm not familiar with Virginia's laws but generally speaking, the ages involved would constitute statutory rape. However, since they have been at it for 2 years already, I think it is a bit late for the father to be bringing these charges. It is pretty clear that their relationship is consensual and that they have been holding themselves out as a couple for two years now. I think that if the boy shows the judge that he can take care of her, via marriage and family establishment, that any charges that the father might bring will be dropped. If the father wanted to protect his daughter, he should have done it a long time ago.

Law about this issue is very stupid in most States.
Texas one is somewhat smarter
